They really should know better. . . they know what you are capable of . . . . I hate that they are doing this to you Emma, it just infuriates me . . . but I love the response . . . from you and from everyone here. This can't end well for them.

They are just so stupid! :duh:

You probably have my IP by now too, ethical and dedicated beings you are. Go ahead, destroy another family, so I can really come out and cause the shit storm of a magnitude that will make you to contemplate your entire existence on a whole new profound level. Are you ready?! It's just a mouse click away.

I thought of this too -- if they start "outing" people there will be a whole army of previously quiet people who now have nothing to lose . . .

But . . . the CofS doesn't have the computers right? They are in the hands of police looking only for specific info . . . . They shouldn't be able to get our IP's. . . should they?

The allegations are that I participated in the DDOSing of Scientology.org in January 2008 and conspired to cause a DDOS of Religious Freedumb Watch in Jan 2008.

This is interesting. Looks like COS is admitting ownership of
freedumb watch.

Does that not make them liable for law suits?

This may not appeal to you Ems, but I'd suggest asking Marty
for advice. You know gamekeepers turned poachers can have some
interesting insight.

Your'e 'talking' to OSA? -
Are you assuming that they get access to ESMB's server logs?

I don't think they get access to that. I don't think the australian police will give 'em the records or the information.

Hmm.. The US raid on Erhlich and Arnie has been mentioned.. But this is not like that. In the US they have this (totally insane) regulation, that the scientologists themselves, OSA and their shysters, can send a team to actually do the raid and confiscate whatever they like to. Only accompanied by a cop that they probably had bought.

Not so in Austarlia, I think.. This would have been real cops. No scientologists there, and no scientologists helping out with this investigation either.. At least I hope so.. But if there IS a scilon in the police I'm sure the fact is unknown to the police force. It would be vested interests and against the rules. Like it is in most of the civilized world.

What could they do with the IPs?

There would stand sauerlaenderin has the IP 000.000.000. Don't they need the provider to get the realname to the IP?

Hmm.. On that note, it might be prudent to remind the police that scientology's OSA is known for 'preparing an operation' like this thoroughly. This means that they would want to have an 'operative' in the police where this is going down. They have suceeded in doing so before.

Reference the Keith Henson case, where they fooled the courts, the Canadian police with false reporting and had a paid cop to track and apprehend Henson.

Not the only instance either!

I wonder what Marty Rathbun and Mike Rinder know about this.

I would think they would have been involved in this process in taking down Keith Henson, and so they could probably provide some vital information here for the police to help Emma and the authorities get to the bottom of the real problem here.

That is actually a very good observation o.O

It would be most interesting who filed the complaints on behalf of what entities with the police, given the amount of stupidity they are displaying in Oz.

The server logs would have the e-mail adress too.

:)

Me is mising the criminal fantasy.

<speculation>...and than they would have my Mail - Adress.

What want they with my Mail Adress? Spams? </speculation>

Oh stop your tinfoil already, you rascals :p

Serverlogs and IPs and board email-adresses are in all likelyhood stored on the SERVER, not on the machine Emma uses to access it. And unless the police specialist who has a look at the PCs is a scilon plant, you're all safe :)

Yes, an IP address (number) doesn't immediately give away an individual's name & addr

Yes, some more steps would be needed, but they'd be one step closer. It would be hassle for them. And even then, many people use dynamic IP addresses, which basically means you can't reliably link an IP address with a person:
Boring Stuff if anyone can be bothered to read

From ACS:Law leak ‘shows weakness of Digital Economy Act’ - Telegraph:

context here: Law firms trying to find people pirating movies etc.

But many security experts and internet service providers believe that this method is flawed. IP addresses can be cloned or faked, while simply knowing which computer was used for alleged copyright infringement does not prove which member of the household was responsible for the alleged offence.
“It is clear that IP addresses are unlikely to ‘prove’ copyright infringement” said Jim Killock, head of the Open Rights Group, which campaigns for online freedom. “Organisations have been arguing that the evidence is reliable. It is, however, merely circumstantial.”

If someone was posting from their workplace, like a large organisation, their IP address may give away who they are working for. For example, the NHS or the BBC.

I would imagine that most anons/'nerds' posting here use a neighbour's wifi network, or a public wifi hotspot. Or a proxy etc.

The worst thing they could do is know more about who is playing Space Invastion with them. As Mystic said, they have moved into a place they don't understand. Look out below!

the nutter that DDoS'd Rick Alan Ross anti-cult site

(Did you know the nutter got convicted a few weeks ago?)

Yeah, I saw Rick Ross' tweet about it the other day. People using Twitter should 'follow' (subscribe) to him, he's awesome.

Another point, Hartley, is that sites like Wikileaks expect DDoS attacks; they have the finest nerds using filtering & algorithms & magic to mitigate against it.

WWP appears to get DDoS'd frequently, perhaps by other *chans. I'm not sure as I'm not au fait with all the latest drama.

Sauerl, give it a rest. :)

Once they have the IP, all they need to do is manfuacture a "crime", and let law enforcement do the rest. They are good with this stuff, you know? :D
