Oh my! - Bloody Zinj and his big mouth!

Dear oh dear, life without fun lovin' men (young or old) would indeed be dull! However, I'm glad I'm not one of those FCDC chicks who has been actually named, who now may be snoopin' on this board. Boys, :naughty:! From most female perspectives, it wouldn't be fun,. "Tits" are cool, but names, along with specific details? :hmm: Different ball game I reckon.

Love ya as usual, and smoocheys all round, whether ya wan 'em or not! :buttkick: :D

Silly girl. We were talking about her beautiful eyes.

ethics and more ethics

Looks like someone is putting ethics IN on this thread--good luck with that--the last eo is "gone" as were yesterdays [40 friggin years ago] memories. The "fcdc" females would be glad to be mentioned as "objects" as they certainly did all they could do to be "upstat". Ya wouldn't believe what they did-there was one girl who.........................!

Schwartz Drugstore

For those of you with a hankering for nostalgia. And I know you all do, here's something from the Washington Post today:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/04/30/AR2009043003915.html

Schwartz Drugstore

I lived in various apartments around Dupont Circle in the early 1970s. The neighborhood was quite affordable in those days and tended toward the Bohemian.

On the northwest corner of Connecticut and R Street in a fine Beaux-Arts building stood the venerable Schwartz Drugstore. Schwartz's, as we called it, was actually three separate businesses: a druggist in the back who filled prescriptions and carried a modest selection of sundries, a newsstand in the front with the usual papers and magazines, and a small soda fountain/lunch counter.

"Brunch" at Schwartz's on weekends was a bit of an institution for folks in the neighborhood. It was the perfect spot for good conversation and cheap eggs over easy with bacon, toast and coffee.

The habitués of the lunch counter spilled into the tiny newsstand where they sat scrunched together at a couple of little round tables amid piles of newspapers. Regulars included the sculptor Frederich Hart, who actually lived above the drugstore, having not yet completed his famed work at the National Cathedral and, later, the Vietnam Memorial. The painter Duncan Hazelwood would hobble over from his studio. R. John Cavanaugh, who was quietly restoring houses in the neighborhood and whose lead sculptures can still be seen in tiny gardens there, would drop by sometimes, as would designer craftsman Peter Danko, who lived on Riggs Place. There were many others artists and wannabes who gathered there, including yours truly.

Rick Hart is gone now, as is Duncan Hazelwood. So, too, are the cheap apartments and studios. I seldom pick up a brush, and Schwartz's is no more. They have saved the building, but it's a Starbucks now. Why am I not surprised?

-- Peter Canada, Bethesda

I was unaware that Frederich Hart lived in the building, but it brings to mind a surprise bit of bonus trivia: Vanna Bonta claims to have been the model for "woman" in Hart's sculture, Ex Nihilo, which can be seen at the National Cathedral.

This sculpture also has ties to the movie "The Devils Advocate"

Legal problems
The film was the subject of legal action following its release. The claim was that the sculpture featuring human forms in John Milton's apartment closely resembled the Ex Nihilo sculpture by Frederick Hart on the facade of the Episcopal National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.[3]

A settlement was reached where the sculpture would be altered in all future releases of the film. Prior to that, the studio had placed disclaimer stickers on their unaltered DVD/VHS material. The altering removed the human forms from the sculpture during shots in which a large part of the sculpture can be seen so that it would not resemble the Ex Nihilo. This is most notable at the wide shot when Kevin first enters Milton's apartment. During the digital animation sequences of the sculpture at the end of the film, the human forms are present in both the altered and unaltered versions.

hmmmm ... Scientology >> auditor >> Schwartz's >> sculpture >> Cathedral >> Devil. A coincidence of connections? I don't think so! :coolwink:

What was the name of that restaurant on Conn. Ave. where you could get a nice, thick steak? The Flame I think??? And then there was that Greek restaurant, oh those Greek salads.
