Flagdown 2014: media coverage, etc

No, it's an agenda that is designed to protect conference attendees from legal harassment that Shawn Lonsdale experienced.

Go fight the injunction in court yourself if you want to talk about AMA's errors.

This is not at all what CiC has argued. I agree with his assessment that interaction at a multi-day, anti-Scientology conference with a person named by the LMT injunction is far closer to the line of "acting in concert" than simply being Facebook friends with that person. The fact that conference attendees will be protesting in downtown Clearwater after the conference is also an important consideration.

Painting people who engage in honest debate with you as your mortal enemies is a fallacy of the Godwin type.

No one at WWP put the scare into the organizers. They made this decision on their own, as the links I posted earlier for you show. I am defending their decision. The CoS agenda is not being run at WWP, Mr. Godwin.

As CiC has stated, it's easy for you to criticize, because you did nothing, risked nothing, had no skin in the game, and no responsibility to protect the people who you invited to your city for your 5-day anti-Scientology conference. It wasn't a "smear" to say that you should put your ass on the line first, it was a challenge. You are challenging AMA to potentially violate the LMT injunction. It is only fair that you be challenged to violate it yourself. Put Your Ass On The Line First, Sir. This is not a Smear, but a Challenge.

First reasonable thing you've said in this entire post.

May I suggest that you clear the words and clay demo the entire LMT injunction until you actually do understand what it says. :study:

So it sounds like I can protest, even if I am clearly seen to be operating in concert with Mark Bunker (or others as specified in the injunction), as long as I am not personally violating the injunction.

Snipped from the above:

^^^^^^

As long as I understand where the prohibited zones are and avoid them than I can avoid any legal issues.

If the CoS cannot later produce video or pictures showing me picketing/protesting in the prohibited zones it would be simple to later defend if necessary.

What I don't understand the 2'nd part of #6 I copied above.

If I do a protest in an area which is not in a prohibited zone, and there are no COS members in sight, but later a busload of COS members get dropped off right where I am, would I be in violation of the injunction even though I chose a spot that was not prohibited, and I had no control over COS members who come within 10 feet of me?

EDIT: Disregard the above questions. As I might be at the Saturday protest in Clearwater I'm just going to read the injunction myself as Rog suggested. (I answered my own question, the answer being here)

READ THE INJUNCTION.....the CoS has restrictions on their activities as well....the guidelines for them are written in the injunction. :duh: Sheesh. :melodramatic:

I think all of the chaos and confusion in this Flag Down event stems from the lack of a psychopath or sociopath being in charge. Haven't we learned anything from history?

Yeah, I did read the injunction which I indicated back in post #409.

I posted the link there to the actual injunction and snipped two excerpts from it as well.

And you "thanked" me for the post.

Sheesh. :melodramatic::biggrin:

Before one picket we did in the 90's they literally put up scaffolding and tore up the entire sidewalk!!
(across the street from the Ft Harrison..) with a jackhammer...

Edit:

"The only thing that really works in $cientology are the lawyers"

Someday, in the future, maybe there will be a TV series about the inner workings of Scientology. It could be a comic tragedy of sorts. I don't think there has ever been another cult/group/religion/etc. with more twists, turns, absurdities and wierdnesses than the CoS.

Here's what it essentially boils down to....

So what happened? We talked with one of the organizers of the event who is in from out of town.

“John Sweeney was upset that the first night was really unprofessional,” we were told. Sweeney usually uses a video presentation when he speaks, and he was stunned that he couldn’t do that at Minnreg Hall on Monday night.

“He encouraged us to find a better venue,” the organizer says. “Minnreg is just a gym, it’s not really a conference hall. We had to put people on milk crates because the podium was too high. It was embarrassing.” --From Tony O's update

This all in addition to the <ahem> American organizer's petty jealousy and grudge match of and against Mark Bunker and others. As Smurf has said, "This was an opportunity missed for a real world class effective event."

Now the speakers were and are great. No doubt about it. I haven't been able to hear most of them very well though. A friend of mine who's an Ex gave up in frustration trying to listen to them. (He doesn't do the online Ex forums so he's unknown here). So how ridiculous that in the year 2014 an event of this magnitude with top rated speakers has such shitty sound? How many more out there in internet land will also give up in frustration. All of this was a result of poor planning by someone who doesn't know what the hell she's doing. But yet is a "know it all". :eyeroll:

I'm betting that Pete from Ireland is rolling his eyes and thinking, "WTF is wrong with this gal?" And he's most likely wishing he knew more about her before he agreed to team up with her.

There IS a TV show about the inner workings of the Co$... came out in March on the History Channel.

From Laura on WWP. (BTW, I'm done discussing the injunction issues here. The decision has apparently been made by the remaining organizers on behalf of themselves as well as their attendees.)

The other organizers decided between themselves to move the conference to a new venue and they are inviting Mark Bunker and Tom Smith to the event. It seems I am cordially invited to attend, but I will not do so.

I am in the process of removing my name from the Flag Down website and any facebook or why we protest posts that I have made in order to protect myself from this injunction.

In my opinion, everyone has enough information about the LMT injunction to make up your own minds as to whether you want to attend or not."

Lone Star, I was expecting the Flag Down event to be like the Dublin 2012 event. Flag Down has an amazing line-up of speakers.... if only we could hear them! I can understand why a professional like John Sweeney would make such a comment. I can't understand why a professional and long-time Co$ critic like Mark Bunker would NOT be part of such an event. I have tried to keep my mouth shut with all the banter about this event, but I was expecting something a lot more professional - not a conference in a gym with bad sound and intermittent WiFi.
:whistling:

ETA: I am glad Mark Bunker is now included in the event. He is a resident of Clearwater and has an important voice and knowledge about the Co$. (I'm a fan, can you tell?)

We are aware of the issues with the venue (how could we not be, we're here!) and have taken corrective measures. With any luck tomorrow will be 100 times better as its being held at a Holiday Inn. Wish us luck!

I was stunned when I found out that Laura Flynn and amaX of WWP were one and the same several days ago. Stunned. This is a nasty, mean spirited gal if there ever was one. Last December she treated me like shit for no good reason, and right out of the blue because I didn't know her at all. She certainly had a right to "call me out" or question me as I could see how a post I made on WWP was misunderstood. (As usual I was joking). A few others on WWP that day did call me out, which was fine. But she was...whew!! Oh, and she accused me of being a "glory hound" or something like that. I apparently only report from the hearings for the attention and love it gets me. LOL... Calling the kettle black much Laura? LOL...

I had posted my Rathbun court hearing comments on WWP one day because ESMB was down. Tony O later texted me and said, "amaX despises me too....calls me 'Blowtega'". I think he told me about her hatred for Mark Bunker too. Anyway, my impression was this was a gal who needs professional help. I still have that impression.

(Well, it looks like I picked the wrong week to fade out of here....I guess I should take up heroin to get me off of ESMB...) :duh:

I saw that you got it from Roger's post. I hadn't gotten that far in the thread when I posted what I did. I haven't been here all day, so I had a whole day of posts to read through and just answered as I went, so I hadn't seen yet that you had cleared it up.

I went to watch the recorded videos for this evening. There are two of them .... each one is just over a minute long. They both say incomplete. Does anyone know when they will be complete? I'd love to hear the speakers from this evening.
