Hi Clarence, thanks for your reply. He did indeed say that, but it has been grossly mis-understood. What he is saying is that G-D is spirit, so to join with the Father we must be spiritual.
Just as we learn in Scientology that two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time, so to become "one with the Father" we must recognise our true identity -
a no-thing - Holy Spirit (wholly spirit) - theta.
It is the ego that stops us recognising our spiritual essence. Jesus' job was to encourage us to recognise this essence as he had.
He, that is his teaching, can only be known by
revelation because to do so necessitates going beyond the human mind. The teaching about hating your parents is to emphasis the supremacy of the need to focus on your true identity that lies beyond family ties and cultral orientations.
As for him being a diety if that is used in the sense of 'of God' then that is true for each of us. That is why I struggle with Christians (a bit) because they often think they are miserable sinners, when scripture says that if they have received the word of God they are a god (that is
divine). So I see Jesus divine, in the same way I see each of us as divine, as well as you Clarence. I
do not worship Jesus, I worship God through Jesus.
Incidentally I think Eckhart Tolle is great. I have read two of his books and also been to hear him talk. His understanding of God as Being is interesting, although I do like what Zizioulas has to say at
