In Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, (the 1941 movie) there are two farm laborers. George who is small but smart. And Lenny who is big and mentally deficient. George tells Lenny how one day they're going to have their own farm, with pigs, goats, chickens..."

Thanks for the explanation Clarence. Steinbeck is someone I enjoyed reading, but I don't remember reading 'Of Mice and Men'.

You should read it then Pip - and sooner rather than later. There are more basic truths in that short story than in all the creeds, believe me. :yes:

Then read "Cannery Row" just for shits and giggles. :wink2:

I particularly like the bit where Danny and his friends consume a whole gallon jug of vino - the progression is marvelously described. :melodramatic:

Thanks, but you're the one who needs understanding. Much more than I do. There's a site for those who support Scientology. I suggest you look into it, and leave us alone.
 
By now, I'm guessing that anyone who might have been considering the idea of becoming a Christian Scientologist has more than enough information to make an informed decision on the matter.

Now you're on a buddha site? Oh, those poor people! We're stronger. We can handle a spiritual whack-job like you. But those poor peaceful little Buddhists. This is deplorable news.
Spirit and soul are the same. They're different only to Christians who don't really know about either, because they've never encountered them. God doesn't dwell among those who belong to a group of mass murderers or to a religon where the same is cultivated, and where evil prevails. And the way you communicate with God is to 'receive' Him. Nothing else is necessary, since you asked. N.B. You may enjoy showering me with your spiritual degradation and confusion, but I don't. Try talking to somebody else. You can have the last word. And it will be the last between us. I don't enjoy your entheta disguised as 'spirit'.

During the North African campaign in WWII, the American G.I.'s were in Bizerte (bizertay) a town in Tunisia or Libiya. Dirty Gertie from Bizerte was a fictional gal the G.I.'s created. But then surely you met her.

ChristianityScientology is indeed the religion for the 21st Century, but it is not my religion but God's. He says through James that the religion that is acceptable to Him is "to look after orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being tainted by the word". James 1:27. Traditionally Christianity would not fit this discription and nor would Scientology. To fulfil what is acceptable to God we need both love and understanding, hence ChristianScientology.

G-d never spoke through James or anyone else in the N.T., Those who did speak in it once in a while did come up with some goodies. 'The Jew is the Root and the gentile is merely a grafted on twig, (that can be ungrafted). To the Jew first, then the gentile. These are in Romans I...and Revelation 9:2 is nice, and true...A gentile who pretends to be a Jew is in a synagogue of Satan. The best of course is Luke 21:24...The age of the Gentile shall pass.'... Don't forget to write!
 
I am not a Christian. I think a lot of the theology is just not something I believe. However, in channel surfing I happened across a Protestant evangelical tv channel. Just for the fun of it, I left the tv tuned to that channel for a while. And I heard a very beautiful and spiritual message on it that had much in common with things I've read in non Christian religious literature.

One takes what one can from wherever one can do it...

You can't imagine how refreshing the above post of yours is, after going round and round with Pip. I'm giving him the heave ho. I wish he'd find somebody else to dump his madness on. But I guess it's my own fault. I asked for it. The guy is impervious. Even christian lectures and coaxing by J. Swift don't phase him.

but in any event, I would guess that Pip wants to be converted as much as you or I or anyone else here would.

What happened to you, was it you who left the church, or where you thrown out against your will Clarence, and after how many years dedication?
 
Hey Pip, I have to say, reading your posts explaining christianity with $cio terms and the reverse with scripture quotations has been somewhat entertaining, but only momentarily. And yet, such an endeavor reminds me of a star trek scene, one used to create as much confusion as possible with a completely fabricated card game called 'Fizbin'.

I'm terribly sorry. It's your daughter's loss. You're a great gal. I'm glad you've got a real good man, though. Wasn't there another song about...'A hard man is good to find'? Seriously, I too lost my closest family. But luckily I recently found that he was worthless. So now I have no regrets whatever. I hope you can one day be at peace with your hurt.
