Well Face,

I really appreciate your writing here on ESMB. Being of the generation starting from 1986 you have filled in some missing and mystery data.

I remember back when I did my staff stint, I always asked myself where are the old timers. I always wanted to met and talk with people from the Dianetics 1950 era up to PT. But one never could, no way to know who they were or are, no way to reach them. It was one of those missing things. And because it was missing, and still is within the confines of the CO$, I would forget about it, the thoughts of "where are the oldtimers?". It's the hardest thing to spot, "what's missing" and because you can't see it.

But, my thoughts have been answered. The secret of where are the oldtimers is out. Thank You and others who have posted their experiences.

Please do finish your book. You can always post it here.

I hear you, Gib.

Because I got into Scn in the mid-sixties some of them Folks from the early 50's were still around and I got to interact with some of them and was fascinated by my chats with them.

Kinda like you, Gib, what I didn't know at that time--and would learn "the hard way" later--what was more important what was not what they said to me, but, what they did not say. :melodramatic:

That's one of the reasons I have answered up to this personal curse of mine to finish Shooting Stars. I know what I have to say is, in the grand scheme of things, not of major importance at this time in the "Big Picture" and I truly wish that Julia Salmon, Don Breeding, Verne Townsend and a bevy of other true "Old Timers" I had the happenstance opportunity to chat with had lived to see the age of the Net and the opportunity to speak from their Hearts here, as I have now.

I've got some IRL stuff I've got to tend to and I'm just not gonna be able to spend much time at all on the Board for the next 4-6 weeks. It's not health or medically related...just some stuff I gotta do that I've been putting off for too long and now I gotta focus on it for awhile. :coolwink:

I'll finish Shooting Stars as soon as I can, when I can to my satisfaction. I'll be checking in on ESMB for any "Comments" on this Thread, PM's and staying in touch with my "Back Channel" Buds.

I'll probably be going through "withdrawal" symptoms for the first couple of days...I L-O-V-E ESMB and All Y'all soooo much...but sometimes a man's gotta do whatta man's gotta do.:bigcry:

See Y'all Real Soon,

Face:)

PS: Sallydance...Please PM me the Link to your posts when you've written your story about the river and what your Doc had to say.

There is a terrific moon in the sky tonight. Perfect for writing from the heart.

Take good care of yourself. :rose:

Until the book is written, someone should do a compilation of all these posts, or a list of links to every chapter... this stuff is riveting! But I will gladly slog through this thread to read it again!

Howdy Folks,

I’ve just about finished off the IRL stuff I’ve needed to tend to and am starting to work on the next Shooting Stars Installment.

As I’ve alluded to before, I’ve kinda pretty much “run my string” out but I do have some more I’ve gotta get outta me craw before I can let all this rest. I hope to have the next Installment up by the end of this week.

I’ve been, here and there and off and on, keeping up with the Board and I must say that I am constantly amazed at the quality of what is put up on ESMB by all Y’all. I will forever be grateful that I got into Scn, joined the SO, went to the Apollo and met Hisself just so I could find my way here, hang out with you saddle tramps and Grok all Y’all’s GREAT STUFF.

I thought I saw a Thread about Veterans Day yesterday and I prepared a Post for it and then fell asleep (that’s quite common when you’re an old geezer). I couldn’t find that Thread today so I thought I’d Post it here.

VETERANS DAY

I am the direct descendant of a soldier that lost a leg serving in the Continental Army during the War of Independence and a soldier that gave the Last Full Measure of Devotion serving in the Army of the Potomac during the Civil War.

My ancestors were certainly not thinking about me on those fields of battle. I have no way to fathom what their thoughts were…All I know is that they were there, they sacrificed for me and they paid a price for the bounty and beauty of life I so enjoy today.

All of Us that live in USA owe a debt we can never repay, a debt that is not brandished, a debt that will never be foreclosed.

For just a moment let’s all set aside our differences, avarices, opinions...our politics, prejudices, judgements...and with reverence say, "Thank You!", to they that answered the call and ventured out to an unknown, uncertain and perilous future that Tendered and Secured Us Our Opportunity and Blessing to Foster, Protect and Perfect Our Right to Live, Love and Breathe Free and Equal.

Peace.

Face,

That's perhaps the classiest post I've seen on ESMB.

Thank you.

I am eternally grateful for those who did what they did to secure our safety and freedom to be as we are. I often, on occasions such as our various remembrance days (Oz has its particular day, called ANZAC Day, the US and UK have theirs) reflect on where we'd be had those valiant men and women not gone and done the right thing.

God love them and care for them; and as we say in Oz: Lest We Never Forget.

:newhere: Greetings Face. i'm a newbie by all standards, so far I've only read 50 pgs (of this thread), so bear with me as I come up to speed. Pls add my kudos to all the rest on great thread/story/writing and VWD on your "soul"searching and growth. I realize it won't carry much weight but for what its' worth. I for one fully and completely forgive you in your role as a "JudasGoat". Were it not for the fact "we" were willing sheep it would be a moot point.
One tidbit, what little it adds, is that during the Apollo's crossing the Atlantic she got a radio msg (shiptoshore) from the Excal. I was temp 1st Engineer, was woke up middle of the night to fire up generator, Riggs Eckelberry info'ed Apollo DO NOT, DO NOT dock US port. Reason; little know US immigration law REQURING non-US citizens, IF DEPORTED, to leave on the same ship they came in on.
Hence, a year of planning & dusting off Capt. Bill's US Entry Prgm. Ergo, the "birth" of the FLAG LAND BASE and the entire cluster f**k of "complications" that followed. And yes, I was aboard Apollo part of '75 so if it ok, I can comment from the "worker bee" point of view. Doubt you remember me but thats ok, yours is a good history lesson for all on ESMB and those who lurk. :coolwink: C-Ya DC

DC,

Welcome to this here First Class Rodeo.

So Glad you are here with all of Us.

Thanks for this cool vignette…I remember hearing about that on the “skinny line”.

Yep...All them "OT's" and everything kept turning out like it was being planned and run by the katzenjammer kids on LSD & Steroids.

I vaguely recall your name but not you…sorry. Were you in the ER?

Please, comment away all you wish. ESMB, this Thread and all that I have written here is a collaborative concert. We’re all just laying down our “Tiles to the Mosaic”, our “Pieces to the Puzzle.

Thank you for your absolution.

Peace be with you me former Bucko. :coolwink:

Oh, goodie! Another old timer!

Don't expect to get off easy. We'll want a full and complete data dump from your concerning your time spent 'in', including but not limited to: any experiences with hubbard, time spent on ships, formation of the Sea Org, Sea Org missions, etc..

So since this is for posterity ...

Aside from all that, Welcome. :)

"JudasGoat"

While I was one for a little, as well as you DC, the SCN system didn't quite get my whole soul per this video clip about 2 minutes into it. Although, the system did get me partially for 26 years having all those hubbard teachings in my mind as the answer to freedom, but not fully. Thank god we all have a bit of the Furyans race in us.
