I wonder how many others lost thier spouse simply because they felt that they couldn't really discuss everything!
.. No wonder. This is quite common in scn I'm sure. Happened to me almost exactly like you tell..

Welcome to the Sea Org, Marty Rathbun - John Coletto was in a similar situation... We could probably find many examples.

There's 'something' that drives people nuts in Scientology!

:duh:

The trap is more subtle - its that that piece of it worked and is then used to bring you along to assume that all of it (the whole Church thing) is from a better knowledge of you than you have yourself.

Well stated Grey, that was exactly my experience. I had great wins at the beginning, I cleared KSW series 1; believed it and it was over.

Small Steps, I understand that deep anger. I've felt it and I've had times where I scared myself because it was so encompassing. It can take you over; and it sounds like that was a day from hell for you. I'm glad that nobody got hurt too (and maybe those boys learned something?).

Yes, we can add it up -- the factors that were "impinging" on you then. I remember the frustration -- mine usually came out in grief. I was too afraid to be angry and commit "overts" and ruin my chance to go free.

That dedication to being on course is really something, isn't it? I can't believe your wife put it in front of her family though -- wait a minute-- yes I can.

I know what you mean, I've been working on my story (haven't posted yet), and it's hugely therapeutic just to write it down.

I would consider objectives one of the most valuable processes - on a par with the OT levels. I wouldn't worry about them as brainwashing or hypnotic - take a look at any experience, say the joy of looking at a sunset - from the revelation that scene made, can you remember what you were like before you saw it? The trap is more subtle - its that that piece of it worked and is then used to bring you along to assume that all of it (the whole Church thing) is from a better knowledge of you than you have yourself.

Give yourself time to separate from the culture itself.

GL hi!
just too say I agree about obj's. i always felt that they a powerful set of processes, not least of which because there seemed to be some line of logic between the processes themselves and what was expected as an ep. i found it enjoyable to deliver obj's for that reason (well most of it anyway! lol) and for one reason or another i ended up delivering a fair amoint of it to various people. i can remember having a big win and realisation about the "intention" involved on the part of the auditor and how that directly played a part on the pc bits!during the session. actually, thanks! i had forgotten about those bits!

just a thing, i have been away from the culture of the church by and large for some years. i guess i didn't really know it!

What? No Introspection Rundown? Obviously you had a "psychotic break". The "in tech" thing to do would be rest, isolation, and cleaning up the out-lists, wrong indications, ARC Breaks and other "BPC" that led up to this incident.

But then, they stopped delivering a loooong time ago..

Thank god no one was hurt!

hi div6

no, as i remember i had none of the above. of course its entirely possible that something was done but i was so nuts, and still am, that i dont remember! lol. and yes, to this day i really dont know how i managed to miss those boys with the car! i'm soooo glad that i did!

hey sp

i looked at the link you put there and thought well this is interesting. just think what we all would of had of someone going so nuts when we were in? myself included! its easy for me now to dish out blame and criticism on others for how i was treated, but what choice did they have? now we're out we can start to understand people being driven to the edge, and indeed beyond. thats a tragic story, not least of which because marty still continued after wittnessing it! grim. thanks for it anyway, takes my thoughts in new directions and i feel thats quite important, stops me fixating on my own limited story.

tl thank you.

you know, even though we were at different ends of the bridge and had different levels of immersion into the cos, i find it most interesting that we seem to have had some similar experiences and seem to be have been left with remarkably similar doubts and confusions to work through (well so far anyway!). fascinating really, and seems somehow to be an important point that i haven't quite organised into something a can communicate easily yet.

Yes I know -- I'm having the same types of thoughts reading people's posts/insights etc. It helps to examine the mechanism that they use to brainwash people and it's validating to know I'm not the only one.

And it's great to read the stories of what happened to people as they were sucked into the bowels of the whole thing. . . knowing that if I hadn't had an antagonistic spouse, that would have been me.

I don't pretend to be able to understand the hell you people went through once you were staffers etc. The stories are amazing and I'm looking forward to more of yours.

Hey Small Steps,
It is good to write it out to try to make sense of all of the non-sense. Scientology tries to confuse you to make you think that you are the one with a major problem and that they are the only one's who can help. Sure you have some level of personal responsibility but you and your wife were so obviously manipulated and used to further the Scientology agenda.

I'm sure you are going through a whole range of emotions right now and you may be feeling very raw. Though it may be uncomfortable, the best thing you can do is acknowledge whatever comes up and ride the wave. Nothing will come up that you are not fully prepared to handle and along the way you will probably get what you need if you don't already possess it within yourself.

You should pat yourself on the back for being able to look at so much because not every one in your situation can do that. I applaud you for looking at such ugliness and realizing that you are really not a bad guy after all.

Cheers!

WPRT,

thank youfor that ack. you and others like you on here are making this whole process MUCH easier than it could have been. thanks to you, and all of you.

gotta put this up because its interesting, although i dont know whether it is for me or the fz's or what! god, i love it when i'm making sense! lol.

i'm not gonna pretend that life is easy for me at the best of times. or that there isn't always some bloody catastrophy or another to deal with :)happydance: i didn't say "handle"! ). i guess thats life in all its glory. but since i started posting on here life has got pretty interesting. ok, i've certainly missed a lot of sleep to this site but its no big deal to me really. i'm used to a wacky schedule. since i started a major situation with one of my children that i thought was dealt with months ago has reared back up. i've had a bill from the inland revenue completely out of the blue. my mum's desk top has crashed in big way (yes i'm living back with my mum, all becomes clearer later in my over blown, stupidly long story! lol) and after my last post on here this afternoon some bastard smashed the side window in my van and stole my sat nav!!! like i say, interesting, or funny, or something i dunno. i know how i would have looked at all that when i was still in but now? who knows. but i'll say this, i have had all that anger bottled up without properly examining it and am well known for having a short fuse and exploding quite dramatically at times. but i've been real calm about the van. really. its quite weird actually and a new experience for me. there was nothing to be gained by getting angry about it. whoever was responsible was long gone and having a big dramatic episode would have innapropriate and pointless. THAT is a significant step forward for me! now, about the subsequent anger that built up when i was talking to the insurance company.......! lol. oh well, it is small steps after all i guess!:)

Whew, Small Steps. That's a heavy duty story. Good job unloading that stuff here. This is a good example of how nuts things can get with Scientology in one's life. They will make you wrong for anything that isn't in line with what they want. It is madening. :grouch:

The more I read others stories and go back over my own experiences and post my own story, the more I see how Scientology makes people masters (especially staff) at invalidating others who aren't conforming to whatever Scientology demands. It's like a disease. It's infuriating and sad at the same time. I hope that cult folds very soon. The spell needs to be broken.

I'm very glad you're out of that and telling your story now.

Please tell more when you're ready. :drama:

SmallSteps, I admire your ability to tell your story so honestly. You went through a bloody awful experience!!!!! Im sure many people in the same situation would probably do the same actions.

I remember well the stress and the frustration of wanting to leave when your spouse is in and thinks youre just being out-ethics scum. I am so glad I didnt really have kids in the equation, Im not sure how I would have coped.

Im looking forward to hearing the rest of your story!

hey guys!

just wanted to say thanks again for the ac......oh! nearly slipped there!:duh:
what i meant was thanks for listen so to speak and ANSWERING me! lol. seriously though, that is the very thing that makes this process easier to get through. i might not have much time to get on in the next couple of days but i'm not disapearing, i'll be back asap!!! happy thought to all of you! :)

Welcome Small Steps! I'm a newbie, 4 days old(?) here too. I have received such a great welcome and support already. I've been out for quite some time and I never though I'd ever think about CoS or the SO again.

It's been quite a turmoil "reconnecting" by reading and hearing everyone's stories but I have to say, I'm getting better. (thanks my Bee-friends on ESMB:)

You know, there;s nothing to be ashamed of... (if you were) not here, you are not alone. Welcome aboard and come back - often. I've got stories, too but it's hard trying to talk about it. So, when you are ready, I'll be listening.

I'm gettin Bee-better and with this I'll grant you lots of BEE-ingness!

Bzz Bzz Bzz

O btw, here's a Bee HUG!

London Org

Thanks so much for your story small steps. As a musician I can certainly understand where you are coming from, but wow you were so young and with kids..with pressure from the cult....geez.. I'd of blown a fuse too!
Though I'm a Yank I had the pleasure (er,,pressure) of being in the London Org (got auditing there) in 1989-90 and occasionally at CCLondon. I found the London Org so morally inept. The ED was having an affair and whatnot. I wont even tell you the "outech and craziness" I experienced at both churches! EEks and to think I spent New Years Eve at St Hill for 1991!!
My hats of to you for surviving that insanity. Can't wait for you to continue with your story!:hattip:

Well done small steps on telling your story and getting it out of your system. It is not a good idea to keep it bottled up. I hope you feel better for telling it. Isn’t great to connect up with other human beings who can understand what you have gone through?

I totally understand about you losing it when you found out about what your wife was doing. I got angry just reading about it! But unfortunately, this sort of thing is all too common. Perfectly decent people get infected with the idea that only Scientology can save the planet and nothing else matters. Then they totally lose sight of the fact that they are neglecting their own and often their family’s wellbeing! There are many stories here and elsewhere of children and spouses being cruelly neglected.

This is quite clearly irrational behaviour, but the perpetrators cannot see it. This is one of the clues that they are in thrall to a cult.

I was around St Hill in the early 90s, did my TRs and Objectives co-audit in ’91. So it is possible that we crossed paths. Actually, the Objectives processes are one part of Scientology that I would recommend anyone to do. Providing that it could be taken away from all the crap surrounding it such as oppressive regging, demands for ‘donations’, demands to join staff, being told to do this that and the other because it was “the greatest good…” , etc.

I don’t see you as a ‘downstat’ at all (I was in the SO), I admire anyone who can make music for a living. I certainly wish I could, but I have almost no musical ability at all. :bigcry:

So welcome to ESMB – I look forward to hearing more from you.

hi all!

just want to say thanks again to all who have looked in and left a response! And also to what a GREAT rescource this is! I think we are all blessed that esmb exists!

anyway, onwards and upwards and all that!

so i had just gone nuts. tried to kill three youths with my car. and my wife had decided that studying was more important than the kids, or my, welfare. i think that sums it up. so as you can imagine i am none too popular in the org at this point. by now i am no longer on staff (again, i don't really remember how i got off staff, but somehow i did) and my whole function seems to be make money, pay bills, handle any and all problems that come up regarding the family and keep lou studying at all costs! around then lou finally gets to do the purif. now, as i said earlier this was my original intention when i got her in! i actually had a win on her finally getting to do this! the day she finished i remember going to meet her at the tube station and being really excited! when she came out of the station she didn't seem to be blown away with it at all! she seemed to treat it as just something she had to get through as part of her program. she didn't seem particularly happy to see me and even though she expressed a certain amount of gain from doing it she didn't seem to think it was worth giving me any sort of ack for doing all i was doing so she could be doing what she was doing! no ack for getting her in! no ack for my intention that she do the purif! i gotta tell you, i took a HUGE loss on that! the one thing i wanted her to do and she seemed completely underwhelmed by it!!! things didn't really get any better between us and finally we agreed that i would leave. obviously taking the children with me! i mean, it wouldn't do to leave her with that sort of dev-t on her lines at such an important time now would it! :duh: . so i moved in with my parents and our two children. this wasn't very workable really so eventually i had to approach our local council and declare myself homeless and get housed in a flat in the area. i think that was '96. this place was only a temparary placement with something more perminant to follow. a short while after moving in (and i have to say it wasn't what you would call an ideal place!) she had to move because shock of shocks the other place we had been living in nearer the org had proven to be too expensive and so was abandoned thereby losing the deposits (which we had had to borrow and was still paying for). she had been to visit the children a few times and we decided to get back together and she moved in with the children and i. it never really crossed my mind that i was a solution to her housing ptp.:duh: :duh: :duh: . so we are back together and unsurprisingly, i am still a scumbag. not really in the org. blah blah blah. during this time we manage to make another baby! please ,no lectures on how irresponsible i/we was at the time! i know, i really do! before we find out the good news, she decides that she doesn't want to be with me after all and leaves. i dont really know for sure where exactly she ended up staying but i think she did a little time with nick and susie wynne and probably some time living with the sup from ldn org. like i say, dont know for sure. the sup, liam, was living in adrian pownell's house in chiswick or somewhere like that. anyone who's seen another thread i've stuck my nose into on here hopefully that will start to explain my issue with him! anyway, after of couple months or so of being in this flat i was offered a place by the council in plumstead, south east ldn and so had to move again. the new place wasn't great either but at least had potential, of sorts! i just start to settle in when i get a call from lou saying that she is pregnant! (that was when the good news came!) and that she was happy to remain apart and she would take care of the baby herself. wtf! so i would have two of our children and she would have one of them wherever she was! insane! so what ever, it was obvious that she didn't want to be with me. its hard to explain exactly what i was like at this time. i was devastated that my marriage was over. i was stuggling to cope with two, basically, babies. and i was still trying to gig as much as poss in order to pay my bills! thank god for my parents and all the help they gave me! i had a couple of friends that were around and one in particular was having his own relationship problems at the time. so what do i do? what any good little scientologist would do, i disseminated to him and took him into cc! cause obviously it was working so well for me in my life that i just had to keep spreading the word!!!! idiot! you might have noticed that there hasn't been much mention of the org, or indeed scientology, for a while in my story. thats because no bastard was particularly interested in what was going on with me. i wasn't going into the org that often and they had what they wanted..... a pro trained sup and class v org. the thing is, i STILL didn't put it together that it was the tech, or the org, or scn in general that had been in any way a serious contributor to my situation! i could justify it all by believing everything i was told about myself!!!
well, louise living away from me and deciding to have the baby on her own didn't last long and it wasn't long before she moved in with me again. you see, i LOVED her. i thought that no matter what, she was the ONE! i never considered i was being a mug at all! my family were, as you can imagine, devastated that i had taken her back....again! but they behaved well and did all they could to continue to help out and even arranged a 21st birthday party for her! she was pretty ungrateful as i remember.
i was kind of around in terms of the org i guess but dont really remember doing anything in terms of services. hence the not great reputation in the org. although how exactly i was supposed to make that happen is still a bbloody mystery to me. it was always lou's post and training that had to come first. i just "had to make it go right" somehow to get on course! the fact that it was ONLY because of me that she was able to do anything was conveniently not-ised by her and all other parties involved. (jeez, even i think i'm sounding like i'm whining now! lol).
another example of lunecy here. mione aswell i have to say! christmas of '97 we decide to spend christmas day and boxing day at her parents house. they lived in wales so it involved getting up at 4 am (after getting home from a christmas eve gig at 1 am!) and me driving us to wales. we got there and i managed to have 1 maybe 2 hours sleep before dinner. all was going well until our youngest at that time decided to be unwell. soaring temperature, listless etc. we decided to take him to the local hospital (obviously it was me that had to do that!) and get him checked out. they decided to keep him in for observations. merry christmas!. i stayed there with him and we were there for two days. louise had to get back to ldn to be on post or training or something but the hospital didn't want to discharge our son. so she decided she was going to go back to ldn anyway and leave me there with the children! I, like a bloddy idiot, decided that was stupid and so the only option was to discharge him ourselves, against the advice of the doctors, and promis to take him directly to a hospital when we got back! dumb! so thats what we did and luckily he was ok. the hospital we took him to didn't want to keep him in. how stupid were we? once again having agreement with the idea that she had to be on post no matter what! even at the risk of harm to our child. i am not proud that i went along with that. i really would have done anything to make things work with her. anything. ok, i'm leaving it there. i need to work out how to shoten this a bit i think or at least only put in that which is relevant to this site! lol.
