in the searing heat.... Some of us have airconditioning to sleep by to wake up a little fresher for the day ahead. But there are also many who will not have it and prefer only fans. And a hot cuppa to go with it! It also depends what part of Oz you live in as not all of it gets overly hot on a regular basis. I believe in Tasmania in the summer, some folks have to have their fires going. I like a fire when it gets down to 27 Degrees C.

Yeah that would be the soft Aussies. The rest of us have to work, play and endure the odd BBQI once met a couple of Australians on a train going to London on a day when the temperature was touching 32C (90F), and one of them told me she found the weather hot. When I told her I knew Australia gets a lot hotter, she said that unlike the UK almost everywhere in Australia in the major cities, where most Australians live, is air-conditioned; so Australians aren't constantly exposed to the elements in the way us Poms are. (Any chance we can get Sheila back for this thread?). There's a town in the interior of Australia which gets so hot that most of the living quarters are underground. People stick it because it's a big centre for opal mining. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coober_Pedy
