Hey Terril, What a great job of reporting of the Convention you have done!
Only one miss: you mixed up my and Mary's stories, but it's OK - I don't mind sharing the spotlight with Mary. Her story was re her husband Artie locked in the broom closet at Saint Hill while she was at AO in Scotland, where she ended up doing Review auditing, and mine was 7 days without sleep, stapling carpet squares all night while all day, being the Public Officer at AO Scotland, and going super OT, and then going on the Fly To Freedom Lecture Tour to the East Coast of the USA; 15 lectures resulting in us bringing back a planeload of folks but only I and 11 others got through and up to the AO Scotland, since the ban on Scientology had just happened. From there, I was the spokesperson for our group of Americans, from which the newspaper article and thus photo for my avatar originated, and all of us Americans went to set up the AO in Los Angeles, at which point I became the Review auditor.
I fully agree that the high point of the entire Convention was Erica Hauri's comments on love. She fully transcended everything Hubbard overlooked, in one fell swoop!

Its really a treat to have Purple Haze and Diana Class VIII posting here. Its been a long time since either of them posted. I think that in the last sentence of Purple Haze's (Candy's) post, she hit the nail on the head about what went wrong with Scientology, as Hubbard layed it out.

The intro to Scientology which new Scientologists receive (and which Veda calls the 1st layer of the Scientology Onion) has a lot of great codes in it which resonate well with most people. These codes and mores are articulated extremely well by Hubbard and in the early stages of Scn, people fall back on them repeatedly and in so doing, come to the conclusion that Hubbard was a great teacher and a great man.

It has turned out that the C of S mainly pays lip service to it's Codes. When subsequent layers of Veda's onion are peeled off, as one goes deeper into Scientology, the Code teachings are reduced, then abandoned and FINALLY, WHAT IS PRACTICED IN THE C OF S BECOMES TOTALLY 180 DEGREES OPPOSITE TO WHAT IS STATED IN THE CODES!!

Erica Hauri's discertation at the end of the Freezone Convention discussed love. Love is barely addressed at all within the "Church" of Scn. Only one reference comes to mind where Hubbard says that is was composed of "admiration and respect." In all of the myriad tomes of Scientology, written by Hubbard, that may be the only reference to love. As Erica Hauri stated in her closing comments at the convention and as Candy has pointed out above, love is of the utmost importance in addressing personal relationships between beings and more than that, it is necessary in achieving spiritual gains and spiritual enlightenment.

In auditing, to get rid of negatives in one's mind, flowing love to the negative energy is often an effective tool in bringing about a vanishment of it. Flowing love to something seems to immediately cause a rise in tone of all persons concerned as well as in the negative energy or mass. Hubbard did touch on this in his essay, "What is Greatness" but then seems to have totally dropped the subject in all the rest of his tech.

Rather than using "love" to uplift beings and de-aberate them, Scientology seems to believe in the application of force along with heavy punishment, denial of kindness (which is called being resonable) and denial of any of the comforts of life.

A Scientologist is made to feel guilty if he/she relaxes and does something enjoyable. Moreover, adherents are torn down and made less of in a concerted attempt to intimidate them and make them feel inadequate and guilty, It is suggested to Parishioners that they are degraded bums whose only chance for salvation is to work. Of course the work must be for the C of S, it should be done for very little pay and it should be done for 14 to 16 hours a day, seven days a week.

Instead of dealing with love and building people up. C of S deals in lies, force, private detectives and physical and legal harassment to bring people down. Hubbard omitted love as a subject to be dealt with in his religion and this huge major omission may well explain why the "church" has stopped growing and is under attack today. In the old days, some love did come through from management and staffs to parishioners. Today, that love is no longer allowed to get through!

I was 15, roughly, when this picture was taken.

It was the Summer of Love. I remember my parents dropping my girl friend, Beth and me off on a Sunday afternoon at the Fillmore Audiorium to see the Airplane, Moby Grape, and Steve Miller Band.

and I were in the Straight Theater in the Haight to see Magical Mystery Tour, and some dude was killed in the ticket line that we had stood in 15 minutes earlier. Speed and meth had come to the City in a big bad way.

Yeh....right on.....Scientology is way off balance. The auditing can be very helpful, but the technology of what to believe, how to live one's life - rules to follow, what to do and what not to do with and in one's own life from the viewpoint of Scientology technology,....lack common sense.... and what is needed for good survival. The indoctrination, if people buy into it and follow it, makes people act weird and do strange things sometimes...really, really strange things......contra-survival things....things they might not ordinarily do if they weren't thinking with stuff they learned from the CoS or some of the conflicting data and lies put forth to them by LRH or DM or some stupid Ethics Officer. Do not ever believe what the CoS tells you.....not ever!!!!

The CoS promotes that they will help you to live a better life and all the while they will be leading you in the opposite direction....the staff will be working hard to please DM and make the CoS rich on your money, while they will be slowly destroying your life in the process and they won't give a damn at all about you, your family, your business, your education, your life or your future. Just "Give me the money now".....is all they care about.

Living one's life thru LRH's or DM's values will tear your life apart. It certainly will not enhance you or anyone else spiritually.

If you're in it....get out of it now. If you're not in it....stay away....don't get involved. Getting involved in the CoS is not worth the price you will pay.

If you want auditing or counseling.....seek it outside the CoS and be very careful what you buy into. Don't just believe things because someone tells you it is so.... even if they might appear to know what they are talking about. Check someone out very carefully before you put yourself in their care to help you with your life.....even if they are certified or have a degree. Be cautious. Look before you leap....it can save you a lot of trouble.

The foundation of any business, family, or PTA meeting is the individual.

Each of us, unique individuals, has our own separate dreams, desires, values, and plans. When we can work with others with similar hopes and plans, contributing actions to a larger vision, we can change the world (hopefully for the better).

Auditing is a team activity. Whether you are paying for it, or delivering it, it takes a buy in from both parties. It doesn't work if there are hidden agendas.

in the Co$, when you're getting auditing, you KNOW that you have to end on an EP (End Phenomena). if you don't, you know you're going to get hassled and charged money for something you won't like. so, like good little robots we all had EPs like clockwork.

Real life and real auditing doesn't actually work that way. I have PCs find things, where they want to end off and really look at an area for a week or more. No EP, but a momentous discovery that takes time and attention to unwind.

it is alway better to work with someone, who has your best interests at heart. someone, with an agenda for you, is not your friend.

Due Diligence is something we should all do before voting for a candidate, spending money, hooking up with a cute hottie.

If you know your dreams and passions, you can find people, who can help you on your way. but if you don't remain eternally vigilant, somebody else is likely to separate you from your hard earned cash.

You can live your life happily ever after. We have several children and grand children, who fill that bill. (We aren't exactly complaining either.)

It takes desire, planning, vigilance, organization, and WORK.

there are no free lunches. you can be and do who and what you want. don't let the dreams die.

Per what I heard Diana is still in the SO, why? I don't know. I don't know where she is either. Too many people have disappeared in Scn...

Hi Aida! Loved your vids and glad that you all had a good time together! What an international gathering...great that you went out to INT base for a look see. Got them all enturbulated without trying hard, didn't you? Just by showing up. Shows you what their actual tone level is...

Good for you guys for going out to visit the supreme secret world-wide cult headquarters! I'm surprised they didn't turn the sprinklers on you, or use the "gold tone" auditory assault as they have done so often in the past when visitors show up.

Just wanted to let you and everyone here know that the make wrong queens Catherine Fraiser and Muriel Dufresne, shown in your videos, were LYING about COS owning the road. It is NOT a private road, it is the public highway. None of you were even close to trespassing, as is clearly shown in your videos.

The actual property line for INT base by their driveway is up by the black iron gate in front of where her car is parked. Everything in front of the guard shack is public right of way of Gilman Springs Road. They have illegally encroached into the public right of way with landscaping, sprinklers, masonry block walls, with fencing and cameras intruding into the deceleration/acceleration lanes leading to the actual entrance (up by the gate) which is mandated by the County for public safety, to make it LOOK LIKE they own that land, but they are lying, it's in the public right of way. They have created an illusion of ownership to make it easier to harass the public for using the road, mostly in an attempt to squelch picketing and public protests. It's all make believe. They own the road only in their own minds.

They have obliterated the public right of way safety pull off shoulder for several hundred feet in front of their entrance and intruded (trespassed) onto the public right of way by creating a concrete curb right at the edge of the driving lane of the highway, which causes traffic accidents when cars suddenly hit that concrete curb which rises out of nowhere, and also by landscaping the emergency shoulder lane which is also public right of way with sprinklers that spray out into oncoming traffic (as a protester deterrent), causing a traffic hazard for all who drive on that road. The road has many commuters who drive it daily. The island in the median strip further narrows the road there, and it is also the cause of many accidents.

How the County allows them to get away with these illegalities is beyond comprehension, especially when you consider how they are defrauding the County out of property taxes with their fake charitable exemptions, in the face of so much evidence and eye-witness reporting of private inurement going on there at INT Base. Catherine Fraiser drives a pretty nice car, doesn't she? Looks new and expensive. How did she accrue that bit of mest on a typical Sea Org pay of $50 a week??? How many years has she lived and worked exclusively at INT base now? Is this more evidence of private inurement?

The actual property line is up by the guard shack, not where you all were walking in the gutter of the road, which COS created. There is no sidewalk, ON PURPOSE to discourage picketing, but if there was, you, would not be "tresspassing" if you were walking along the sidewalk in front of their cult compound. You had every right to walk along there on what is the legal public right of way...you had every right to be there, to film or picket or just be out for a stroll on a beautiful winter day, so long as you weren't blocking traffic or blocking use of their driveways, which you weren't.

This is verifiable from public records and has been confirmed by a private survey paid for by Anon critics. It is true that the stretch of road is dangerous there, because COS management has made it so with their un-permitted incursions into the public right of way. The bright lights and cameras recording at car level to photograph the faces and license plates of everyone who drives by on that road are especially distracting at night, as are the sprinklers hitting cars driving in the road and all pose a public safety hazard, as does the loss of the shoulder for emergency stops and no public sidewalks.

Danny Dunigan was lying when he said that your cars were trespassing on their property...your cars were parked in the public right of way beside the road. There is no way to drive a car onto their property from that part of the road, due to the wrought iron fence which is at their property line, and quite a bit up and away from the road.

The local Sheriffs deputies and nearby Police are sick and tired of Corporate Scientology crying wolf and making so many false calls for "assistance" for non-crimes, anytime anyone gets anywhere near to their property.

The Corporate Scientologists are paranoid for good reason. They are hiding their own crimes there.

You all did good to not let them buffalo you with their lies and misrepresentation. I can see the look of concern on Muriel's face. She seems worried that their responses would make the flap worse. Better to have stayed behind the fence, and just let you all walk along the road and film.

She is probably afraid that security is going to cause an International flap by doing something stupid like turning on the sprinklers or using the "Gold tone" noise assault.

I see that Catherine Fraiser lost her cool and did physically assault you at one point, caught on the video. Good for you for warning her not to touch you and for just walking away from the conflict she was trying to cause. If anyone in your group had done the exact same thing that she did to you, to any one of them, Danny Dunigan would have knocked them down to the ground in a citizen's arrest, used a zip tie to "handcuff" them and sat on them until Police arrived, and they would have pressed charges against you for trespass and assault.

By their extreme fearful reaction I would guess that DM was on base at the time. Did you know that you caused the entire base to go into lock down by your presence there? So much for their productivity...really VERY able beings, aren't they?

I hope everybody had a great day visiting INT base, and got a sense of how much fear pervades the entire atmosphere there. Imagine how much that affects the cult leadership trapped there, not to mention the poor worker bee Sea Org members, who all need to liberate themselves from that hell. It's one of the creepiest places on earth!

I remember seeing Robert Altman's M*A*S*H in the Liberty Theater, across the street from MacArthur Park in the early 1970s. Gail Pollack and I saw it together. We were living with each other at the Westlake Lanai, the apartment house across the street from AOLA. I had a corner apartment, which she shared with me. From one window, we could see the former mortuary building housing the LA Org. From the other windows we could look directly across the street at AOLA.

I might add, that this was in Southern California. Up north, in Northern California, Laura Hunter waited in my bed, in my bedroom, for me to return home.

M*A*S*H resonated strongly with me. Two guys, good at what they did, who weren't cowed by the establishment.

In my small way, in my family's way (long family history....), I was of that mindset.

As a high school junior (honor student, hair past my shoulders, not unaccustomed to off the cuff remarks touting LSD, marijuana, etc in class), one day I burned my report card (As and Bs) publicly in the Quad. The Vice Principal called me into her office. As she berated me, I ate from a huge piece of pie, that my mother had made me for lunch, quite sloppily and piggishly without utensils. you might say, she didn't feel respected by me in her presence. I definitely think she did not feel respected.

Really, what could she do? I got good grades in AP (Advanced Placement) classes. I scored well on the SAT. In interschool math contests, I was a participant. I didn't sass her or talk back. I just listened politely while I devoured my pie. I was on my own programmed course. Certainly not a cog in anyone else's wheel.

Scientology tried and occasionally succeeded in dominating me. That is what I'm here to talk about.

Oat Tea 3 was a piece of shit. Although I spent a good deal of time doing what I liked, when I was supposed to be auditing OT 3 (like going to Disneyland, the LA County Museum of Art, laying by the pool), and then writing up false worksheets, going over to AOLA for exams (F/Ning of course), I still kowtowed to the system, and didn't just tell them to stuff it.

I created a "shadow" of myself to be in scientology with.

Rationally I said to myself that scientology was good. There was lots of objective proof that I bought into. Intuitively, I knew, unquestionably, knew, that, though there were many good things, there was something rotten in Denmark.

My, unconscious response to this, was to abdicate my full beingness, and let a spiritual teammate run things for me. I stayed on the sidelines, while my spiritual stand-in did my relating to scientology.

Rationally, Sci was what I worked for. Deep down, it wasn't what it said it was. I "knew" this without knowing it or consciously saying it to myself.

It makes sense to me now, why it was so easily walked away from. I had already walked away several years earlier. I just hadn't told myself.

So today, when I think of friends, who are still in, I can see what I did way back then, and put myself in their shoes. The rational conscious person is a mere shadow of themselves, a zombie, a ghost who walks. The real person has withdrawn from the touch of reality, and is out of commission.

We disarmed them by not opposing them and they just went back inside the place and left us alone! LOL

How the County allows them to get away with these illegalities is beyond comprehension, especially when you consider how they are defrauding the County out of property taxes with their fake charitable exemptions, in the face of so much evidence and eye-witness reporting of private inurement going on there at INT Base. Catherine Fraiser drives a pretty nice car, doesn't she? Looks new and expensive. How did she accrue that bit of mest on a typical Sea Org pay of $50 a week??? How many years has she lived and worked exclusively at INT base now? Is this more evidence of private inurement?

The actual property line is up by the guard shack, not where you all were walking in the gutter of the road, which COS created. They were lying, as usual. Where you all were walking for the entire length of the video was on public land, and you had every right to be there, so long as you weren't blocking traffic or blocking use of their driveways, which you weren't.

This is verifiable from public records and has been confirmed by a private survey paid for by Anon critics. It is true that the stretch of road is dangerous there, because COS management has made it so with their un-permitted incursions into the public right of way. The bright lights and cameras recording at car level to photograph the faces and license plates of everyone who drives by on that road are especially distracting at night, as are the sprinklers hitting cars driving in the road and pose a public safety hazard.

Danny Dunigan was lying when he said that your cars were trespassing on their property...your cars were parked in the public right of way beside the road. There is no way to drive a car onto their property from that part of the road, due to the wrought iron fence which is at their property line, and quite a bit up and away from the road.

The local Sheriffs deputies and nearby Police are sick and tired of Corporate Scientology crying wolf and making so many false calls for "assistance" for non-crimes, anytime anyone gets anywhere near to their property.

The Corporate Scientologists are paranoid for good reason. They are hiding their own crimes there.

You all did good to not let them buffalo you with their lies and misrepresentation. I can see the look of concern on Muriel's face. She seems worried that their responses would make the flap worse. Better to have stayed behind the fence, and just let you all walk along the road and film.

She is probably afraid that security is going to cause an International flap by doing something stupid like turning on the sprinklers or using the "Gold tone" noise assault.

I see that Catherine Fraiser lost her cool and did physically assault you at one point, caught on the video. Good for you for warning her not to touch you and just walking away. If anyone in your group had done the exact same thing that she did to you, to any one of them, Danny Dunigan would have knocked them down to the ground in a Citizen's arrest, used a zip tie to "handcuff" them and sat on them until Police arrived, and they would have pressed charges against you for trespass and assault.

By their extreme fearful reaction I would guess that DM was on base at the time. Did you know that you caused the entire base to go into lock down by your presence there? So much for their productivity...really VERY able beings, aren't they?

I hope everybody had a great day visiting INT base, and got a sense of how much fear pervades the entire atmosphere there. Imagine how much that affects the cult leadership trapped there, not to mention the poor worker bee Sea Org members. It's one of the creepiest places on earth!

Hi Carmelo, your post above plus the previous one about your experiences as a junior in high school are both very informative and shed lots of light on how a person of your personality characteristics reacted to Scientoloogy.

It is interesting how you saw some good in it but also saw right from the start that there was also something very wrong going on in the background. You seem to have rigged up an apparatus where you took advantage of the good parts but never relinquished control of yourself to C of S. At any given time, you were capable of walking away at a moment's notice with few if any regrets. That is how I am reading you in those two posts. IMO, you showed very strong survival skills in handling things in this way.

Your comments on OT3 are also astute! I, like so many others, was told that we had these entities all over us and that the way to truth and spiritual freedom was simply to run them all out. It was implied that by doing this, all of the OT abilities which the C of S claimed for the levels would be ours when we ran out the last entity.

So many of us, myself included, were robotic and accepted this as truth. We made no effort to understand how this could be so or how it might not be so. We blindly spent large amounts of time and money on this procedure. Along the way, there seemed to be some wins. The auditors would often call out "Floating Tone Arms" as we had a new realization appear. I took the floating TA calls as I sign that the level was working as promised and as a signal to pay for more of this procedure.

Besides your sage words, Carmelo, I never noticed or thought why almost none of the upper level management was availing themselves of these procedures if they were that great.

As this procedure moved forward, it tended to separate all of us pre OT's from the rest of society. We falsely presumed that we were now much more enlightened than all other beings on Earth. Whatever was done or produced by the Society in which we lived was written off as insignificant when compared to what C of S was doing. Actually, all of us who went this route were fools and were showing immense stupidity!! The excellent popular jargon for our state is that we "Drank the Kool-Aid"! Yes we drank it in enormous draughts!!!

My hat is really off to you Carmelo, for never really drinking the Kool Aid and just walking away from C of S back in the 70's when you felt it was time to leave.

Having received a phone call from a friend, who I haven't talked with in a long time, (because of a recent post) I am feeling the complete revivification of a time long since passed.

Let's return this thread, for a few moments, to the thrilling days of yesteryear at Celebrity Centre, specifically the early 1970s.

(I'm WASP through and through) As a young woman, she had a gold Dunhill lighter that a yacht salesman, at a boat show we were walking through, must have spotted. Two VERY HIPPY kids checking out boats don't get offered cruises on the water the next day without the expectation of a sale (sale not sail). We could both talk nuts and bolts about the engine powering this "boat."

I don't remember how Gail and I met. Perhaps through Susan and Richard. It doesn't matter. She was on lines at CC on 8th St., and I was on lines at the AO on Westlake. We had interlocking connections.

In the bat of an eye, Gail and I were sleeping together. Because we were both young and trying to save money, we saved money by not spending it on pajamas or nighties while cuddling together as we slept. So we cuddled closely together; how else would we have stayed warm?

Gail and I marched to our own drummer. At night, we would many times walk down from Alvarado & 9th, near Mac Arthur Park, to the Miracle Mile on Wilshire. We would get home around 4 AM. Can you say "FUCKING STUPID"? Nevertheless, we were completely safe and were never mugged. We used to be so huge and safe, walking through the neighborhoods and then the skyscrapers of the sleeping city.

We got a black lab puppy, We named "Sirius." ( the Dog Star) After we never figured out how to potty train Sirius, we shipped him off to my dad on PSA (Pacific Southwest Airways), where he lived happily ever after.

Gail had previously had a 2D with Margaret George, the EO at AOLA, across the street from our apartment. Margaret drove a 'Vette, was about 50, and always had a stable of bitchin' looking young female hotties. Gail having been one.

Gail had the nicest set of boobs that I have ever seen. (True to this day!) They were perky, with a slight hang. Cupcake size, not huge, not small, delicious to look at. YUM.

Margaret George, our Master at arms, what a character! I don't think we ever did a thumbnail sketch of her in the early CCLA portion of this thread. My brother Clarence Rockaway was posted as her Ethics Yeoman Officer. In his brief tour of duty on ESMB, Clarence discussed Margaret George a bit.

Margaret was a stocky woman, built something like Rosey O'Donnell; she did drive a red Corvette. She also frequently drove a motorcycle to CC. She wore tight black pants, a leather jacket and sunglasses. She did have a stable of good looking young women expediting for her, doing filing and such. I remember Joanne W., who eventually ended up in the galley, cooking our meals, and Joanne's friend Lynn E. being two of the women in Margaret's stable.

Not only did she have a stable of girls but she would attack guys who were Romeo types and began relationships with women whom she liked. There was a staff member Danny De V. who started romanancing Regina C. who was our Tech Sec. Regina was very nice looking and before Danny started his 2D with her, he had slept with many of the other CCLA girl's.

Shortly after his starting up with Regina, Margaret called Danny into Ethics. He was under surveilance by her. Knowing what I know now, she was probably just protecting Regina because she did not expect Danny to remain faithful. Surprise, Danny and Regina were a couple which stayed together. Last I new, about 35 years ago, they were still together.

Margarette stated that she was born to be CCLA's Ethics Officer. She knew her Ethics policy and by and large did a very fine job with her MAA post. She had very strong Ethics presence!

Margaret was from a wealthy east coast family, but you would never know it. She fit so well into the SoCal Hollywood way of life.

Like so many of us from that period, she reeked authenticity and uniqeness. You would never think of her as shallow superficial like so much of today's Hollywood.

As an EO, she was nothing like today's breed. She was full engaging experienced OT and human being; not some unaudited untrained teenager with a bad attitude and zero life experience.

1. It may help ward off depression.

Anyone who perks up after the first sip of morning coffee will tell you that it has mood-boosting effects. Now there's proof: A study from the Harvard School of Public Health, published last month in the Archives of Internal Medicine, found that women who regularly drink fully caffeinated coffee have a 20% lower risk of depression than non-coffee drinkers. The study, which followed a group of women for 10 years, found that as more coffee was consumed (up to six cups per day), the likelihood of depression decreased.

2. It may help promote a healthy weight.

Drinking an espresso or cappuccino after a meal is more than a relaxing habit. "When you drink coffee after a meal, it causes your body to more slowly process the meal you just ate," says Chris Kilham, medical researcher, founder of Medicine Hunter, Inc. and author of Psyche Delicacies. According to David Levitsky, PhD, professor of nutritional science at Cornell University, "Caffeine decreases the rate at which the stomach dumps its contents into the duodenum-a part of the small intestine where digestion takes place-and also increases metabolic rate." Keep in mind, though, that java isn't a miracle brew: Downing it after dinner won't make the pounds melt away; rather, sipping a cup post-meal could, in small part, help promote a healthy weight.

"Studies have shown that caffeine has a positive effect on sperm motility-the ability of sperm to move toward an egg-and could increase your chances of [getting pregnant]," says John Wilcox, MD, FACOG, managing partner and reproductive endocrinologist at HRC Fertility in California. In fact, a study conducted at the University of Sao Paulo found that sperm motility was markedly higher in coffee drinkers versus non coffee-drinkers. And it turns out that it doesn't matter whether you drink one or ten cups a day: The only detectable difference was found between coffee drinkers and non-coffee drinkers.

4. It can harbor bacteria.

When you think of the germiest places in your house, you probably picture the kitchen sink or garbage disposal. But your coffee machine's reservoir also tops the list. A study performed by NSF International, a not-for-profit health and safety organization, found that the coffee reservoirs they studied were "loaded with yeast and mold organisms," says Robert Donofrio, PhD, director of NSF International's microbiology labs. "Hardly any of the volunteers we spoke to cleaned or disinfected their reservoirs. The residual water in that area, plus the fact that it's a humid part of the machine, contributed to bacterial growth." To properly clean your coffee machine, follow the manufacturer's cleaning protocol. If nothing is specified, clean it once a month by adding three or four cups of undiluted vinegar to the reservoir, allowing it to sit for 30 minutes and then running the vinegar through the unit. Finish by adding fresh water to the reservoir and running the machine through two or three cycles to wash away vinegar residue.

5. It may reduce the risk of skin cancer.

Staying out of the sun and regularly applying a liberal amount of SPF should always be your number one line of defense against skin cancer. That said, a new study out of Brigham and Women's Hospital found that women who drank more than three cups of coffee a day had a 20% lower risk for basal cell carcinoma, and men had a 9% reduced risk. However, the research did not indicate that coffee consumption reduced the risk of squamous cell carcinoma or melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, making it all the more important to protect your skin when outdoors.

6. It's not truly addictive.

While many people claim that they can't make it through the day without a few cups of java, Liz Applegate, PhD, faculty member and director of sports nutrition at the University of California at Davis, explains that caffeine is not addictive. "Caffeine is a mild stimulant, and the World Health Organization states that it is wrong to compare caffeine intake to drug addiction, since people can reduce or eliminate caffeine from their diet without the serious psychological or physical problems that result from a true addiction." However, serious coffee drinkers may experience symptoms such as fatigue and irritability if they reduce their intake. According to Dr. Applegate, people who consume 600 milligrams of caffeine (about six small cups of coffee) daily are most likely to experience these symptoms, but they will usually resolve themselves after a few days.

7. It doesn't necessarily cause stomach pain.

If you've ever blamed java for stomach discomfort, you might want to visit your doctor to see what else could be at the root of the problem. According to Lauren Gerson, MD, MSc, associate professor of medicine and gastroenterology at the Stanford University School of Medicine, "There is no evidence from reviewed studies that coffee causes ulcers or more pain in patients with documented ulcers." She also notes that there is no evidence that coffee could be the cause of stomach pain in patients with indigestion. However, there is one type of digestive issue that coffee can aggravate; Dr. Gerson explains that drinking coffee may worsen heartburn symptoms, since it stimulates the stomach to produce gastric acid.

It's hard to explain, but looking at my posts over the week end to this thread, I found something.

Something all of us can use.

CC was established for the opposite of the communication impaired. There was a term that I don't remember.

If we are all transparently ourselves, with no hidden agendas, we can connect with others who will help us grow our personal goals. That's called synergy.

By definition, if you were on CC lines, you were a communicator. Many folk plugged in there and went places.

What I'm looking at is revivifying that time, and taking the feeling up to present time, and jumping off from there to make our lives more of what we want. Let the Apollo thread be the rising tide, that raises all our boats.

This thread has been doing the above for years now; we just hadn't defined it. This is what the Apollo "brand" stands for. Help, entertaining, fun, help.

These are not easy times. Things are rough across the globe. Camelot is ours, if we can only isolate its elements, and run with them.

There still are giants. I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED BY ERICA AND MAX HAURI of the Ron's Orgs in Russia and Europe when I heard them speak last week in Las Vegas.

How about the Apollo thread? We have giants here as well. I would like to name some of them but then some people might have their feelings hurt if I don't mention them. Nevertheless, I will single out Carmelo Orchards. His ideas have led to the growth of this forum and he is doing the same thing now as he did in Nov. of 2009 by suggesting we here on the Apollo thread recapture the spirit of those special days of the early 1970's at CCLA, ASHO, AOLO, FCDC, many other orgs and many of the large Missions such as the Riverside Mission, Phil Spickler's Missions, Martin Samuels Missions, Alan Walter's Missions, etc.

This thread is capable of floating a lot of boats. I am not sure who is reading us but we are sure being read. Lately, we are averaging about 2,000 views a day. I also want to single out one other person who is "Face". Despite having severe medical problems, he has written brilliantly and in an extremely droll and entertaining manner and has supplied answers to so many of the mysteries which many of us thought we would never get answered .
