Exactly. But I was thinking more along the lines of Criminal Charges. In my opinion the cult got off very lightly after the Operation Snow White fiasco. I know 11 Scientologists got sent to prison, but they were lucky not to have the whole cult dismantled.

If they get caught manufacturing evidence in an attempt to frame someone, this will be the end of the Scientology in Oz and would have reverberations across the world. Can you imagine extradition warrants issued for OSA Int goons and even DM himself?

As they get more desperate, they are going to go too far, as they may have already done in this case, and get caught with their hands in the cookie jar and pants around their ankles. Maybe this has already been asked...I haven't read the whole thread. Why has it taken so long , close on two years, to discover/uncover this supposed evidence? Why was this information, in whatever form it may exist, not available around the time of these DDOS attacks? Why now in Australia when the Cos is under attack on all sides has this come to light? Also to check whether the warrant should have been issued in the first place based on what they call "evidence" and to see if I have any path of recourse.

If I can prove to the police (which I think is very likely) that there should never have been a warrant signed off by the magistrate, I intend to take action against any and all parties involved and get compensation for the loss of equipment, time off work, stress & duress and any other costs involved.

My guess is that you were taken off previously because of this current situation. can't recall any specifics, but you may have solid grounds to
sue, as many others may have.

I am really, REALLY reluctant to do this until I am certain of the costs. I've seen this type of thing bite people on the bum before and we all know what happened the last time an Aussie raised funds for a legal defence (thank you Mr Saxton).

What if I raised $2000 and only needed $1500? Do I do partial refunds? Do we create a trust with any left over for further battles or use it to help exes in other ways (retraining etc)? Who does the accounting?

I just don't know how to do this the right way.

Another night to sleep on things and despite my own feelings that it will all be ok, I've decided to engage a lawyer.

I have to run off to work now and can't be doing to much of this on company time but I'd really appreciate if you guys could do some research for me today and see if you can find me a lawyer who specialises in this kind of defence.

The (pending) charges are concerned with "Unauthorised Impairment of electronic communication". And "Consipracy and incitement to cause Unauthorised Impairment of Electronic Communications".

If you could do some research on cases in Melbourne defended successfully and get me a few lawyers names that would be very helpful.

I think it would be a question of demonstrating that the intent was to crash the access to the site. Probably difficult to demonstrate.

The goal of these sorts of actions by the Church is basically a fishing expedition, looking to see if they can prosecute a person for anything at all, as well as an intimidation effort. They would love to "win" the suits, but that's not why they lodge them. They lodge them to bury people in paperwork and make it hard for them to live their day-to-day lives: overwhelm. It's the definition of suppression.
