Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview)

'Contradictions' are essential to Scientology. You don't even deny them and instead veil your own sophistry in them. For every archly expressed 'Think For Yourself!' Ron includes a subtler 'This Is True. This is what you Think. The Real You; The Clear You! The You Unaberrated by that nasty Reactive Mind!'

We shall not speculate as to why you choose to pretend that Ron As 'Source' doesn't claim Absolute Truth, because He made no bones about the necessity to maintain the proper 'gradient' when dealing with wogs.

Zinj

You've no need to speculate at all concerning my reasons or motives, Z. I've answered those questions many times since first joining the board. That you continually raise the issue suggests that you are incapable of understanding the written language, or at the least feel no need to actually comprehend that upon which you choose to post.

A lot less invective and a bit more honesty would be much appreciated from you, Z.

Invective??? :whistling:

Invective In*vec"tive, a. [L. invectivus: cf. F. invectif. See

[1913 Webster]

Invective In*vec"tive, n. [F. invective.]
An expression which inveighs or rails against a person; a
severe or violent censure or reproach; something uttered or
written, intended to cast opprobrium, censure, or reproach on
another; a harsh or reproachful accusation; -- followed by
against, having reference to the person or thing affected;
as, an invective against tyranny.
[1913 Webster]

Clear the ENTIRE meaning. :)

Sorry Mark, accusations of sophistry are probably the mildest approbations I can come up with, considering what you're peddling :)

I am glad someone finally cleared this up for the public.

Re: Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview

Notice how Juliette Lewis immediately does a handling of the "wog" upon hearing "Xenu":

Juliette Lewis did a recent interview with Vanity Fair magazine and was asked some interesting questions. (including one concerning the thread title I used).

Also she was asked about Xenu as well. :p

She explains that some people are confusing Hubbards science fiction works with his studies that have nothing to do with science fiction.

I'm glad we got that all cleared up. :coolwink:

If you'd like to read the actual interview it is located here:
http://www.vanityfair.com/online/oscars/2010/12/juliette-lewis.html

There is another article about the interview here:
http://www.sodahead.com/entertainment/can-you-be-a-christian-scientologist/question-1380577/

Just in case the interview eventually gets removed from the website I'll repost some of the scientology related questions (and answers) from the interview here:
--------------------------------------------------------------

I’m not sure how to segue into this, so I’ll just come out and ask. You’re a Scientologist, right?
I am, yeah.
Do you celebrate Christmas? I’ve never been sure about that. Does Christmas count as a Scientology holiday?
Oh yeah. We absolutely celebrate Christmas.
So you have a tree with ornaments and eggnog and presents and Christmas carols that aren’t about Xenu?
I’m a Christian! I think there’s so much confusion because people don’t understand a religion where you can be another religion but you can still practice Scientology. That’s why it’s completely progressive. It’s just tools for living. It’s about understanding one’s self and others and compassion and how to communicate better and how to live in this troubled society. It’s really basic, common sense stuff. It has nothing to do with all this funny folklore that surrounds it. You could be a Jewish Scientologist or a Buddhist Scientologist or a Christian Scientologist or anything else.
Do you believe your ancestors were reincarnated aliens?
That’s not been a part of my experience, no. (Laughs.)
So... you don’t believe you came from aliens?
I was thinking about where that idea came from, and I was like, “Oh, maybe it’s because [L. Ron] Hubbard was a successful science fiction writer, so they’re confusing his science fiction with his other studies that have nothing to do with science fiction.” It’s like you thinking I might punch somebody in the face because I played somebody who punched somebody in the face in a movie.
That’s actually a pretty good analogy. I wasn’t expecting that.
I’m used to misconceptions. And honestly, I don’t care to explain Scientology to people. You can investigate it on your own. It’s not that difficult. There are Web sites and all sorts of resources. The one thing that troubles me is when rumor becomes hatred and prejudice towards a group of people. That’s when it becomes scary, when you have people trying to take away other people’s right to practice a religion of your own choosing.
You’re taking all the fun out of mocking Scientology.
My experience is, there’s nothing alarming or inhibitive about Scientology. I don’t find it judgmental. I can’t speak for somebody else’s experience. It’s just my own.

Jump ahead to 3:55 in this interview of Scientology Celebrity, and Scientologist her entire life, Kate Caberano (born 1966), and her husband. The subject of Christmas didn't come up, but there was a question about "aliens." Compare the answer to JL's answer. This is pat PR.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KTTirB9ZFo

Perhaps someone can assemble a collection of clips of Scientology Celebrities lying about Scientology, especially about "aliens," "OT 3," and "Xenu." I know there is video out there.

Lying (about Scientology) is a Scientology sacrament.

These posts were accidentally placed on another thread. Here they are on the right thread.

Re: Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview

I'm sure she got a PASS on her "TR's" with this interview.

The OT 3 materials are public knowledge and she talks about them like they
are part of a sci-fi novel. Unbelieveable. :duh:

Re: Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview

She lied, except that she didn't *really* lie because nobody in scientology uses the word "alien" (in regards to scientology). It's never used in discussion about scientology and you won't find that word in the OT materials, if I recall correctly.

If you really want to put a scientologist on the spot about scientology beliefs, you have to use the exact language that Ron used in describing those beliefs.

Ugh, yeh, JL, a nice Christian girl with a dash of scilon *shudder*, out to save the world? not.
Yep, I'm not a fan, an okay voice, not bad back-up band, ick, but just to be fair I tortured myself with some of her music vids and just as a check on my inner critic sought out and read her lyrics to a number of songs, 'bout as deep as a thin coat of paint imho~ example of the deeper stuff >http://www.allthelyrics.com/lyrics/juliette_lewis/youre_speaking_my_language-lyrics-1041381.html (great site btw).
Regardless, how and what she needs to keep her head together is her own business, she's not a proponant of pushing her beliefs on anyone, which is cool by me even if I think she sucks and scientology is a bogus bag of elephant snot, sort of at a loss who her target audience is supposed to be, maybe she doesn't know either
Something got her interested in scilonese and its obvious she hasn't proceeded very far up Lron's rusted bridge to nowhere, for which I'd like to point something out when it comes to interviewers assuming that all scilons/proclaimed scilons know about OT3, most don't~ I suspect more non-scientologists are familiar with the OT materials than their public.
Who knows, maybe there's a brain cell hiding in there and she'll figure out what a load of twaddle she got sucked into and run. But with all the ego stroking cult is so fond of and the invisible leashes, hm, might take more than a couple of coke-blown synapse.

Just a thought or three.

"Alien" means someone from another planet.

Each has done OT 3, each has read 'History of Man', and each has listened to Hubbard's lectures, and each has probably heard Hubbard announce, "I am not from this planet" in 'RJ 68'.

These people were raised in Scientology families. They know, and they are lying.

Interviewer: "Do you believe your ancestors were reincarnated aliens?"

Lewis: "That’s not been a part of my experience, no." (Laughs)

Interviewer: "So... you don’t believe you came from aliens?"

Lewis: "I was thinking about where that idea came from, and I was like, 'Oh, maybe it’s because Hubbard was a successful science fiction writer, so they’re confusing his science fiction with his other studies that have nothing to do with science fiction.'

"...The one thing that troubles me is when rumor becomes hatred and prejudice towards a group of people. That’s when it becomes scary, when you have people trying to take away other people’s right to practice a religion..."

And then,

Kate Ceberano:

Interviewer; "What about aliens? People will say, Do you believe in aliens?"

Ceberano: "I never heard of it in all my three generations. I think people confuse L. Ron Hubbard's science fiction works with his philosophical and religious works."

Re: Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview

Hubbard wrote a screen play called "revolt in the stars" many years ago and it was the story of OT 3 minus the BTs and Clusters. I read it after finishing OT5 and it was supposed to be made into a movie at one time. I guess that South Park beat them to it. LOL.

This was after the FBI raids. Hubbard was having the prelude to another nervous breakdown during this period. The project was later shelved, as it really didn't make sense to do. Hubbard found other projects to occupy his time, and distract his attention from the mess he had created for himself.

We all know about the OT 3 story. This thread is really about why Scientologists can't stop lying about Scientology.

IMO, lying is Scientology's primary sickness.

I think the success of Star Wars fucked his head up worse than it already was, and he felt 'the great elron', 'author of everything ever written', deserved the same kind of popularity and critical acclaim as Steven Lucas was getting, so in 1977 he tried to peddle a screen play based on OT3 to the Hollywood Studios but nobody was interested in that pile of shit.

Re: Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview

IMO, lying is Scientology's primary sickness.

In our opinion lying is Humanity's primary sickness. With Scientology being a mere (though stunning) avenue of its expression.

Huge distinction.

It takes an idiot to believe in nonsense. Dog shit reality, humanity 101. And scientologists fit the bill, before they were introduced to Ron. Period.

The whole after-the-fact thing is spiritually powerless to effect change. So the game goes on. And on and on. Wherein 1000 years from now a New Improved Scientology will be in town.

Scientology is a mirror.

Smashing the glass won't help improve the image seen.

Apocalyptic

Lying is Scientology, the sickness is convincing yourself it's the truth.

Perhaps so, but it was a coping response to the aftermath of the FBI raids and later abandoned.

So, it's irrelevant.

The situation is that Scientologists are lying about Scientology to non-Scientologists -and despite the foot bullets - are having some success. These two interviews are examples. Scientology lies because - despite the occasional foot bullet - it "works."

If lying were entirely Scientology, we probably wouldn't be discussing it right now. Scientology contains a certain amount of truth. Mostly on display like dangling ornaments. It wouldn't be much of a trap otherwise.

The lying works for Scientology just as it does for the most technologically advanced nation on Earth which also has the highest standard of living ... North Korea

Oh, I don't disagree at all. I'm just saying that the Interviewer, Kerri-Anne (a personal friend of Kate's), threw her a softball. It allowed her off the hook because scientologists NEVER refer to Intergalactic and "other-world people" as *aliens* in my experience.

That's my point. If Kerri-Anne had asked "What about Xenu? Do you believe in Xenu / Do you believe that 75 million years ago... etc?" then it would have been a different story. She'd either have to admit to believing it, lie about it or wouldn't have answered the question (which would have been answer enough).

Quote the Internet at them and they're off the hook, quote Hubbard at them and it's a different story.

BTW, I've called this a bare-faced lie on many occasions here on ESMB, I believe that she lied as to the spirit of the question. I'm not defending it, I'm suggesting a better strategy for Interviewers dealing with scientologists.

^^^^^^
THIS!

It takes an idiot to believe in nonsense.

I would say that the argument could be made that pretty much ALL humans can be made to believe in nonsense, especially when they are children. Unfortunately,
we don't necessarily lose the stupid beliefs when we become adults.

And even in individuals who are very sharp sometimes their BS detectors can malfunction at times. :omg:

And scientologists fit the bill, before they were introduced to Ron.

There are some extremely intelligent people who got involved with scientology as well as other cults.

Pretty much all humans have periods in their lives when their normal defenses are down and they are susceptible to deception and persuasive techniques.
