ESMB and The Freezone - let's have it out!

Div6 is not a moderator and has not banned anyone.
Thor is not a Freezoner as Emma has already stated.
There are no Freezone moderators.
End of speculation.
Maia :)

Good post, all as I thought.

I never heard of Thor until this fracas. Or
have I just not been up to speed enough?

Maybe post some data on who they are?
or link to posts where they did this.

This thread has, in my opinion, produced the best writing Ive seen on the board, by far. Great writing occurs when one reaches deep within so that truest emotion passes directly from the heart to the paper. So many wonderful and admirable expressions, idioms, poems from so many people.

Damn, we're good.

Hubbard said THIS:

"It's a big joke, this living. God was feeling sardonic the day he created the universe. So its rather up to at least one man every few centuries to pop up and come just as close to making him swallow his laughter as possible." - L. Ron Hubbard

Mark Twain said this:

"Power, money, persuasion, supplication, persecution -- these can lift at a colossal humbug -- push it a little -- weaken it a little over the course of a century; but only laughter can blow it to rags and atoms at a blast.

Against the assault of laughter nothing can stand."-Mark Twain

I'd rather laugh than live in Hubbards reality where the goal is to stop all laughter, including the laughter of the gods.

Even scientologists have to admit that life can be pretty funny sometimes.

Hint: Hubbard had huge warts.

So forgive me if I am in a bad mood.

When I was in Scn, I had doubts (yay me) and I thought hey, some of this tech works (well, I thought it worked on me, little did I know...) and I thought, well, blow this bunch of sadistic robots who want me to prop up their delusions - I could steal some of this 'tech' and go out on my own and have my own little 'I know more about you than you do' practice and get some MONEY and LRH done wrote it all down for me so I don't have to do no work.

Fuck, freezoners got there first, and they have their own little clique and rules and crap and except nobody but people looking for truth or love will care anyhow and so I would have to go hit on my friends or troll the exscn boards to get people who are vulnerable.

Bugger that, I can think of way more fun ways to make myself feel like shit (can you say bourbon?) without screwing up others lives for which I would be responsible.

I feel better now. :happydance:

Heathens prefer bourbon, I'm afraid. Scotch is closest to God.
But believe what you will, of course.

Touché, I'm just going through a pagan thing :) I'll be back to Balvenie before you can say 'Och, neeps hackit with balmagowry!'

Your statement translates online as "My dog has an itch in an unmentionable place". Somehow I doubt that was your intention.

I wish these smarty pants with all the languages would just learn English so we in the States could feel superior.

Div6 is a freezoner, am I right?

Div6 also fills in as a moderator. Well, he certainly has moderator powers - I saw him ban a person (very swiftly, I might add, a few weeks ago)

So, am I correct that we have a freezoner as a moderator on ESMB, and Div6 is that moderator?

I'm not saying anything about whether a freezoner should be a mod, or wether Div6 should be a mod, I am just trying to establish whether or not we have a moderator who is a freezoner on ESMB.

Do we?

No. Wrong again. Div6 along with probably 20 other people (including yourself) were given the power to "one touch ban & clean" spam. As long as they were sure it was spam they could delete the post & user in one go. I've since disabled this function because I have handled the spam problem.

Listen to me Alanzo. I'm not telling you who the moderators are and I disrespect you for pushing this issue. Because it was brought up (over & over) I will AGAIN clarify that Div6 is not a moderator, anymore than you are.

Now, this is a serious question, FTS: Where was the disrespect?

I would say it's pretty disrespectful to say that you don't give a damn about someone's rules, that you'll break them again, any time you damn well feel like it.

I was going to drop this, but naaaaah.

How do we explain the information in Roan's post above?

Emma?

Thor?

Anyone?

Go ahead and discuss the Pierre thing all you like. No one is trying to hide what happened, except maybe Pierre.

But when YOU go into specifics and YOU name the person, and YOU enable the continuing violation of that person's privacy, then YOU make sure you are prepared to take responsibility.

I don't know.

The title of this thread is "ESMB and The Freezone - let's have it out!"

Well, let's have it out.

Does ESMB have a Freezoner operating as a moderator?

And again, let me make sure everyone understands: I'm not saying a freezoner should not be a mod on ESMB, I am only "having it out" whether or not a freezoner is a moderator on ESMB.

That's it.

That's all.

Let's have it out.

Maybe we should also make sure that there are no African Americans or Asians as moderators too. Wouldn't want that would we. :duh:

Before Anon came along I spent a lot of time discussing Scn with FZers on ESMB. Largely it was unsatisfactory and circular in nature with occassional abuse from FZers who would descend into Hubbard-style equating such as Hubbard-criticism = Hubbard-hate, disagreement with the "tech" = bitterness.

Basically they displayed, in my opinion, the Hubbard-implant of simplistic thinking and labelling.

I saw Lionheart was mentioned at the start of the thread. I believe he became "enturbulated" (Joke! :D ) But a spirit doesn't die and re-birth is a natural phenomenon.

With the arrival of anon and the activism/protest movement, I realised that the FZers were not the correct target and arguing with them was as futile as arguing with CofS scientologists. By their own descriptions the FZers ARE scientologists, they are not ex-scientologists. So I've never entirely understood why they are posting on an Ex-scn board. There is a fundamental untruth in there.

However censorship can't be the answer, it is playing Hubbard's game to do that and part of the Hubbard de-programming, in my opinion, is to allow, tolerate, accept, let be. These are largely alien, non-scn concepts because scn is all about control, change, manipulation, force. This was Hubbard's psychosis which he laced through the subject, so we cannot be surprised when Scientologists of whatever hue display these characteristics.

When I left Scn decades ago, one of the first shocks to me was to discover that non-scns were often nicer, less judgemental people than scientologists, despite scientology's lip-service to the ideas of non-evaluation. I also noticed how foul-mouthed scientologists were, in general, compared to huge swathes of Hubbard's "Wog" population. I noticed how compulsive was their urge to change and "handle" things, compared to many non-scns' attitude.

This is the Hubbard implant at work. So we should not be surprised when we find Scientologists on here evaluate, indicate, and point out how Hubbard's psycho-babble techniques can "handle" that, etc. They are just scientologists and that is what scientologists do!

So, thanks to anon and the pickets, I focussed on the target, which is the cult, the source of the implant, and the originator of the mind-warp (LRH). In my opinion this is the correct target.

At demos, I have attempted to engage scios in conversation and had a little success, but trying to bust through their brainwashed facade is largely as pointless as trying to do the same with the FZers.

So the most effective things at demos are the simple statements "We have cake, they have lies" or the Kentucky chant "That's the chicken, that's the cult!"

Similarly on ESMB, I believe the best tactic when a FZer trots out the Hubbard babble is simply to say "that's Hubbard babble".

Let the FZers mouth their hypnotised rubbish, their twisting of "facts" into Orwellian "double-think" or "cognative dissonance" and simply identify it in reply as Hubbard cult thinking.

Protect the newbies from the FZer PR which is some sort of grotesque double-think. Such as Hubbard was a lier, Hubbard was a genius, Hubbard was flawed, but his tech isn't and all the other contradictory justifications for the cult "tech" that they are still following, while simultaneously squirrelling it - it is what Scns do, they practice double-think. It is what Hubbard hypnotised us all into doing when we were in his cult. Remember, "1984" was published the year before DMSMH and to me it seems it was probably LRH's blueprint for Scientology.

We have to remember what it was like for us when we came out, the confusion, the loss, the terror. We are obliged, in my opinion, because of our previous active participation in the Hubbard-group mind-warping, to be gentle with our newly-out victims. We have a responsibilty to them.

When they are newly out and lurking on the boards, we have to help them by pointing out FZer hubbard-babble when the FZers do their babble. I believe this is where some individuals on ESMB provide the best of service. If newly-outs take some comfort in resting for a while in the FZ Squirrelling, then so be it. I believe by simply pointing out that it is still cult-babble, most will de-progamme naturally.

This is what ESMB is best at. Helping confused exes de-programme themselves.

I do know people who are repelled from ESMB because of the amount of Hubbard cult babble still promoted on it. This is a huge shame and
a great dis-service to them in their hour of need. It is to our shame that we fail them. It is to our credit when we manage to help them.

I know long-time ESMBers who are also repelled by the quantitiy of hubbard-babble on ESMB and how it sometimes makes, even experienced people feel like quitting ESMB. I've decided this is not the solution. The solution is to post "watch out, there's a cult about" warnings when we see the Hubbardist cult creeping onto ESMB.

ESMB will never be perfect, but I do think it is pretty wonderful in this imperfect world.

What a monster topic this is! :omg: 56 pages, and happening so fuckin' fast that answers relay 3 pages back.

I wonder what the underlying reason is.. For the 'charge', for want of a better word.

Disrespect... I think it is that... I don't mean protesting the rules like Emma is spanking Alanzo for atm.

I mean more like Cat's Squirrel was kicking Mick Wenlocks ass for back on page 49. (They excelled both! :D)

Now, I'm guilty as sin too!

I think that believing in anything Hubbard or CoS is deluded. Evidence of being hypnotized, mesmerized and mindcontrolled. I consider it dangerous even. For the people themselves, and ultimatly for all humanity. Therefore those people need to 'wake up' and smell the cofee! - I'm on a moral grassy knoll about this.

This is not 'respectful' of these peoples beliefs. So be it!

But I didn't start it! - Hubbard did! - The above admission of mine is a reconstruct of the mindset inside the Sinister Cult of Scientology. It was precisely that 'disrespect' that the cult levelled at me while I put up with it. The cult has this disrespect for all humanity, or WOG's as they are so endearingly labelled. The WOG's are deluded, hypnotized and blithely unaware. Technically they're 'abberees', a techincal and thus more polite term for insane... Oh: "We're here to help them wake up!"

Hmm.. I don't se how this particular kind of 'disrespect' can be avoided. It can be unsaid...

That's a great post with lots of well made points.

What an excellent post. Thankyou Asagai, the above quote is exactly my viewpoint and why I am still here. :)

Schwimmy - have I told you lately how much I respect your views and love your common sense answers sprinkled with humour? :D It's been too hard to keep up with individual posts in this thread, so this is a blanket thankyou!

Emma, I'll be happy to give you my thoughts on this.
When I first decided to leave the church, I thought I might find a place in the freezone. This was comforting to me. I'm not really leaning in that direction any more. However, that option made it easier to cope with the loss of the experience. It's good to know that for anyone who still really wants the bridge, but not the church, there are options.
I never thought of this forum as a place to contact freezone orgs or practitioners. They have their own sites. The fact that there are freezoners and Indies here doesn't bother me. I feel we all have something to say and I am interested in what others have to say.
In the short time I've been here I have seen people evolve from one viewpoint to another and the transformation is inspiring. I appreciate the fact that moderation here is not heavy handed. We are big boys and girls and are here to learn how to make up our own minds. For many of us that is a new experience. We do tend to evaluate for each other from time to time. We also offer each other help. We have the option of accepting what is offered or moving on to something else. When the freezone is offered as a possible solution. That is all it is. There are other options.
While I might not connect up or get involved with any freezone practitioner, I do appreciate being able to find out what they believe and what they are doing. If you don't want to hear what they have to say, you can block them. I vote for non censorship. That is why I am here.

I second that.

.

If we create an environment where anyone can say anything to anyone, then Freezoners can be attacked and picked apart for their ideas and practices, and exposed so that everyone can see what they are up to: if they are.

I do not think that the only stance on Scientology should be militantly anti. That was pretty much the only choice we had when we were first getting out: If you were an EX - then you were anti.

I don't care what other boards think of the position of ESMB. As many people have shown, you can have "anti" cults, too, where no postive response, or even civility, is allowed (i.e. ARS).

The only answer is to allow ALL points of view, to not restrict the flow of ANY information, and to not try to control anyone - for once.

After the cult, it's real good to just let people be who they are.

I second that too.
