Re: Miscellaneous Ramblings
Hi Smartone! It's great that you agree with my comments about "listening, duplicating and acknowledging". I hope you read the follow up comments by Ted, he much of interest to say about the subject.
This topic could be the topic the total Ex scientologists and the Indie and Freezoners can agree on.
Surely nearly everyone has some reality that that the technique is workable, either by using it on others or having some else do it on you. Anyone can start a conversation on a park bench or while waiting in line for a food order to be filled. When applied properly, the talker often feels the listener is a special person, unlike the masses of people he/she has dealt with.
The technique was not invented or discovered by Hubbard. He did organize it and emphasized it at the entry gates into Scn but then he appeared to drop it and pursue other more lucrative processes. No credit has to be given to Hubbard and he can be criticized for not promoting it more and letting it slide to protect his income potential. This should keep the "Exes" happy.
Meanwhile a person could be trained to administer this skill in one quick session which could be done for free. A little more time would be well spent covering some theory on why it works and then doing some drilling. As Ted mentioned, if several thousand practioners were applying this technique out in the "real" world, society would likely become less hostile and more caring.
WIN - A friend of mine gave my number to a man about my age who trained at the Orange County Org back in the 70's when it was a mission. He achieved Dianetic Clear and also did some training at ASHO. He left because he felt the mission and ASHO were becoming too militaristic.
He called me two days ago, Sunday, and we talked for 45 minutes or so. He told me that he learned the "listen, duplicate and acknowledge" technique back in the 70's and has continued to use it these 35 years since he quit Scn. He says that a lot of people tell him that he has special powers and healing gifts and all he is doing is listening to people talk in the coffee shops around where he lives. He has had not contact with any Scientologist, still in, Ex or Freezone since he left 35 years ago. He was taught it was a suppressive act to discuss Scn with others and had not discussed it with anyone for 35 years until he talked to me on Sunday. I turned him on to ESMB and also this thread. We are going to meet for coffee in a week or so. The fact that he appeared just after I posted on this very subject that he still uses is really a coincidence.

I really agree with you about the auditing. Just knowing that the person really duplicates and cares and asks the right questions does clear up and organise the mind a lot I've found.
It's funny you should explain about your cat. As I entered this thread, I wondered about her a few times and you have answered my question. She's beautiful. No wonder you called her Bella.
