update: his testimony will be in-camera so we won't be able to hear it, but neither will CoS.

Parliament of Australia: Senate: Publications - Senate Briefs

Quote:
Committees generally prefer to take evidence in public hearings. Where there is a risk, however, that the exposure of some evidence in a particular committee inquiry could be contrary to the public interest for reasons including possible prejudice to court proceedings, national security or individual privacy, a committee may decide to hear evidence in private (in camera).

Senate standing order 35(2) requires that the examination of all witnesses, including those heard in camera, be recorded in a transcript of evidence (Hansard). Witnesses may apply at any time for all or part of their evidence to be heard in private and the committee must consider such applications. Although the Senate and its committees have the power to publish evidence taken in camera, normally this course is not taken. However, the Senate or a committee may subsequently decide to publish in camera evidence because the reasons for keeping such evidence confidential no longer exist. It is an offence punishable by the Senate to publish evidence taken in camera without permission.

From a posting I just did on WWP:

http://forums.whyweprotest.net/318-...nefit-test-day-2-hearing-68673/4/#post1277216

My testimony is over and on order of the Committee ended up having to be private.

I very much wanted what I said to be freely available to everyone and did not care that organized scientology was going to hear it. But the Committee decided it had to be private.

As far as I know I am not allowed to publically say what we went over and so am not. I hate that as I'm a huge fan of the truth going out freely and broadly.

I hope to find out from my own attorney what if any details I can give and what might be needed for the information to be made public.

I will say that I said maybe 20% at most of what I planned to cover and then the senators wanted to ask questions which I answered. I had a whole sequence of testimony planned but they really wanted to ask questions and so I abandoned my planned testimony and just answered what they asked.

It was all good stuff coming out, I just wish it was more and was public.

That's all I can say for now. Bed time.

PS: People from Australia talk funny! :)

Would the Senators take additional testimony at this point in the form of a supplementary written submission? If so, that would be a way to communicate some of these other points with them.

I got a chance to see you speak in Boston last month at the Megaraid and was very impressed with what you covered in just 10-15 mins. Definitely was looking forward to hearing your testimony today.

Now that the hearings are done and that we and Larry were included in those hearings, I do think we have good reason to celebrate.

Our submissions are on record, as well as other info, and an awful lot has been covered in detail (despite not being spoken about during the hearing). In addition to that, we are able to provide more, and we will.

Given that all this info is now or will be a matter of public record (in *some* form), one would think that *now*our Govt not only has the right to take this issue of Scn further, but also that it would have the *obligation* to do so. This wasn't the case until this hearing, so it's a milestone for us in Oz, and I'm pretty stoked about it all. I think we all are.

Lots of good stuff has happened during this entire hearing. The result of this hearing has turned out to be even better than what we thought it would be. All good! Thanks for your support and good cheer over the last couple of days! :happydance:

Let anon know if you need any help with the research/tracking down the dox. This truly is an excellent opportunity to use CoS's own policy against them, as well as shred many of the others lies they have brought up.

Also after viewing the senate hearing over these last 2 days I would like to say I have a very good feeling about the inquiry. I think that one way or another SOMETHING is going to get done when this is over. I particularly noted the committee's great interest in the NZ and UK charities commission hearings, perhaps Australia may be looking at something like that in the future.

One way or another, CoS won't be coming out on top of this one, indeed already they have suffered a humiliating defeat in this inquiry (and bringing their top OT's down to watch it, priceless!!!). :)

I hadn't thought of that aspect of it. Good one! (And thanks a lot for all the videos.)

Hi Folks, am just chimin' in here.....

I'm pretty happy with the result of what's happened today, but have mixed emotions about it all.

You're being too harsh on yourself. What ever "umms and ahhs" there were only reinforced your sincerity. Having observed Xenophon and Cameron in action, I am positive they are fully armed with all the information needed and what ever points you feel were missed are already known by those that matter.

Face it, accept it . . . you done great!!

I have never seen someone come out of the Church and turn around and fight them as quickly and effectively as you have. It is a testament to your integrity and your leadership.

You, and all the others, have definitely created a milestone in the fight against Scientology abuse. I believe this will spread around the world, and marks the beginning of the end of the fraud and the abuse of rights of people by the Church of Scientology.

Thank you very very much, Carmel.
