Imagine the twisted mental gymnastics and counter intuitive universe that exists around a pretty young woman who wants to flaunt her sexuality, but is in a supposed puritanical militant cult? Imagine working at CC Int, taking care of all the glamorous celebrities, wanting that life but having to throw those desires out the window, even feel guilty for having them, to slavishly work away the hours for the good of mankind.
The messages she is sending out are totally convoluted. She is as free as a bird in a cage. There may be nothing wrong with this young woman other than the fact that she was never allowed to develop into who and what she wants to be which then leads to all sorts of personality disorders and deviant behavior.
Truly, she is too young to fully understand the ramifications of what she has done and what is being done to her. I am not taking her responsibility away. I am simply saying she, too, is a victim.
What she did is truly inhumane. How she is being used by a cold and thoughtless cult is reprehensible.
Her life ahead looks rocky.
Contrary to the traditional story of how a mother-in-law battles the wife of her son, I loved Andrea.
I said to her more than once, "Well, I was not permitted to have another child, but I have a daughter ! Andrea Jentzsch !"
If she needed $$$, I was there for her. if she needed a car for her day off, she could have one of mine. If she was ill, I was there with vitamins and shakes and more.
If Alexander was out of town and she got a rare evening off, we would do a movie and dinner, I took her only to the best of restaurants.
We never fought. I only acknowledged and praised her for being supportive of my boy. We never had a whiff of a disagreement. I was more than generous $$$$$$$$
I recall some 5 years ago, Alexander was out of state and he called me to tell me that Andrea was under the weather, could I do something ?
I ran to a great health food store and purchased the Works. A Care package supreme with tons of nutritional goodies. Fruit protein bars, smoothies, you name it.
It was 10: 30 at night that I arrived at Celebrity Center and pulled in on Bronson Avenue directly opposite CC INt where the Sea org berth in a renovated apartment building. I called Andrea's cell phone. She came down, we hugged and within a minute, a Security Guard on a bicycle pulled up.
"What ?" He demanded was in the shipping bag (care package). The voice was in anger, dominating, accusative, suspicious.
I looked at this punk. He wasn't even born while I was made to run around pole in Clearwater sun for 12 hour a day torture. He speaks to me like I am an unwanted fly to swat out of the area.

Here he is, throwing his weight at me like some new BOSS that could approve or disapprove my gift to Andrea.
"My name is Karen de la Carriere" I said softly, "Andrea is my daughter in law and I am just bringing her some vitamins and nutritious protein bars and smoothies as she is under the weather"
"Well, speed it up then" he barked with full seniority on a Sea org member standing on Bronson and my "unauthorized visit."
I felt a wave of some strange emotion. I hugged Andrea and walked back to my car. I mentally shook my head in disbelief and what it had all come to.
I drove home feeling depressed.
Who do these people think they are?One of the absurd parts of cult thinking is that she could pass a star-rate checkout (without com lag) on the "Goals Of Scientology".
She would answer "A world without War, Criminality and Insanity", give examples and then confidently demo it out for a pass.
But the system there is so rigged & corrupt that she doesn't even know that both she and her cult are waging an unprovoked war on other people right now. They are acting insane right now. They are committing criminal acts right now.
It's so dreamy just being able to say the right words and not need the slightest clue what they mean but yet get validated anyways. And have "wins" about it.
This is very similar to how I felt at Flag visiting my husband when he was an outer org trainee. The husband/wife relationship should be senior but, it's not. When we has there, he was owned my them. I could go on and on about this but I don't want to upset myself before going to bed.Who do these people think they are?
Reference:Jenny De Vocht the "Commanding Officer CMO Int" was forced to stay up for non-stop seven days... until her eyes were dark and hollow sockets. Even the CIA classifies shorter bouts of sleep deprivation as "torture." When Jenny finally crawled into a bed, Miscavige had her hauled back to the CMOI conference room ("the Hole" a.k.a. "SP Hall"). Meanwhile, Miscavige also had a bed brought in and placed in the middle of the room. After humiliating and degrading Jenny as a "weakling who couldn’t go without sleep," he ordered her to go to sleep in the bed while all CMO staff watched. After a week of no sleep, Jenny dozed for the next two days in a conference room full of people who were themselves not allowed to leave until she got out of bed.

SUCH INCIDENTS ARE CONSIDERED NORMAL !

Who do they think they are?
They think they are MAN'S ONLY HOPE OF SALVATION.
They believe that Hubbard provided them with a fool-proof method of "fixing people" and of "fixing planet Earth".
They think that the aim and goal to achieve a sane and decent planet is FAR MORE IMPORTANT than anything else. And, from a larger selfless view, it might be more important IF they actually could do anything about it, and if Scientology didn't simply involve a contrived/fabricated set of ideals and goals used to manipulate people.
It sort of makes sense that IF a group possessed REAL TOOLS that could most assuredly repair Men and Earth, that there would be some who would try to stress the importance of these larger 3rd and 4th dynamic goals. And, the 1st and 2nd dynamics would necessarily get short shrifted.
To me, it is very easy to grasp.
If you lived on a planet that was on a very fast collision course with self-destruction, due to a dwindling spiral and various inner personal whole track case factors (the 4th dynamic engram), and if we were all running out of time quickly, then the urgency would be apparent and actions would be appropriately demanding and even quite self-sacrificing in nature. THAT is what true believing Sea Org members accept and adhere to - they are CERTAIN OF IT - they have been CONVINCED. They are entirely LOCKED in a make-believe reality foisted on them by Hubbard and Scientology.
The nutters in the Sea Org BELIEVE with their heart of hearts, having been throughly indoctrinated and brain-washed into Hubbard's most severe and fanatical "data", that ONLY Scientology can and will create a better world. The Sea Org and even all of Scientology hinges on THAT IDEA. The IAS hinges on THAT idea. Hard Sell hinges on THAT idea. Heavy Ethics hinges on THAT idea.
Even the nasty shenanigans of OSA, the lying, the deceit, and the force, might be understandable and even justifiable IF Scientology WERE the ONLY package of true information on Earth that solved the problems of Men and universes forever.
Of course, the big problem is that it is mostly a BIG LIE (interspersed with just enough truth to keep the followers totally confused).
Once having accepted various ideals (making a better world, making sane and able people), which are not necessarily bad in themselves, and once having accepted that ONLY SCIENTOLOGY CAN REALIZE THESE IDEALS, all else just falls into place.
Many people in Scientology confuse 1) the lofty and inherently decent ideals with 2) Scientology being able to realize the ideals.
Hubbard tricks and lures you with the grand ideals. They are good intentions actually. But then, he PROMISES (with a bundle of total lies) that ONLY Scientology can HANDLE attaining these ideals. THAT is the curveball Hubbard throws.
Fundamentally, most of the real dedicated Scientologists BELIEVE that Scientology can make a better world, and that it IS MAKING a better world right now.
If YOU really KNEW that YOU could make a better world, by working very hard and sacrificing your personal life and goals, what might YOU do?
Of course, the BIG PROBLEM is that Scientology is NOT making a better world, and is NOT making better people.
The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions.
That statement is so completely applicable to the subject and practices of Scientology.
I need to sit down and really explain this some time. Hubbard STATES (postulates, asserts, claims, proposes) various goals and ideals that just about ANYBODY can agree with. Such as making people more able, making a world without war and insanity, providing real justice, being ethical, bringing about freedom, and so forth. Sure, these are all very VAGUE and GENERAL, which of course works the best because each person can DUB-IN his or her own details and meaning for such abstract ideas.
Then, when a person is agreeing and agreeing hard, with great momentum, with the "good ideas", Hubbard STATES (postulates, asserts, claims, proposes) an idea such as ONLY SCIENTOLOGY PROVIDES THE KEYS TO SOLVING THE MYSTERY OF MAN.
People get into the agreement mode by the agreeable and decent stuff Hubbard places in books and tapes. But then he tosses out the total nonsense, that some just accept out of had:
Scientology is knowing how to know.
Only Scientology can deliver spiritual freedom.
YOur ONLY chance at making it is Scientology.
You eternity depends on what you do here and now with Scientology.
This list of absurd over-generalized NONSENSE coiuld go on for many pages.
Hubbard TRCKED people into accepting the nutty ideas largely by first getting them to agree with the decent ideas. Then he runs a huge A=A=A on his followers, where they confuse the decent and good with the total trash. Personally, I think Hubbard was a pretty smart guy and that he knew exactly what he was doing to trick and mislead people.
Great post. Thank you very much.
Even when I was in and a die-hard, I still resented the subordination of personal, intimate relationships to the need to eternally exalt every single whim of the church, even when I believed in what I was doing, respected the Sea Org and truly felt that Scientology was man's only hope.
Do the armed services here in the US treat spouses the same way as Scientology does, like the spouse has the husband or wife out on loan but otherwise they belong to the organization? Maybe, I don't know.
Even if Scientology was mankind's only hope. Even if it was all true -- every word Hubbard said. Even if the tech really worked and it was our only way out of eternal entrapment, still, at the end of one's mortal life here, the only thing that is really real, or that really matters is the relationships one had with others. It's really the only reason anyone would be fighting to make planet earth a better place to live.
Even if Scientology was the answer, it still wouldn't be right to act as if the group owned the individual.

Just stop hurting people! Get straight and honest and stop your crimes Scientology!! You are not doing anything but creating hatred and destruction - based on your own statistics! LOOK!

Awesome posting Gad!! SO TRUE! Now here's an easier, more effective way to restore insanity - everyone in the world pick a day to stand outside and hold hands with your neighbor and be at peace. Practice love and forgiveness. I would even forgive Slappy if he asked me too!Just stop hurting people! Get straight and honest and stop your crimes Scientology!! You are not doing anything but creating hatred and destruction - based on your own statistics! LOOK!
It is free - it just requires a willingness to be peaceful and it would help far more than any auditing, study or donos in Scientology - crazy as it sounds - it would be far easier and workable too!
Peace and love to you all!![]()
I'm sorry, but there'd be a limit with me as to how much I'd put up with. They'd probably get me to do some of that stuff once- like the cleaning of the walls. The cleaning with the tongue, no, never. I don't care what some people say- I wouldn't do it. And eventually I'd hit my last straw/breaking point and I'd leave. After making a biiiiig scene.
I stopped putting up with crap that was pulled on me when I was on staff that was nowhere near as horrible as what Karen depicts here.
It's not just in CofS that this stuff occurs. I went to a supervisory workshop once and the instructor told us about a girl who worked in a bank as a teller and she kept forgetting to lock her cash drawer. She'd been counseled and all but kept forgetting. So her supervisor, exasperated (plus the supv sounds like an abusive douchebag anyway) put the cash drawer keys in a jar of peanut butter and made the girl fish them out. Which they girl did. But, although the supervisor certainly should have been reported to staff relations and/or the state labor board, still, the girl should not have done what she was told to do. Doing that perpetuates these sorts of behaviorisms.
The organization IS culpable for the hideous way they treat people but the people themselves perpetuate the system and abuses by going along with them.
Folks, never ever knuckle under.
I agree. I know that incredible control is put over people in the Sea Org, and there's always the threat of losing family and friends through disconnection, but if anyone tried to make me clean a floor or anything with my tongue....well....I would've kicked him in the head. Someone out at Int. needs to finally "man up" and just punch DM's fuckin' lights out! Geeeeez!
